Dear Parents,

Here’s what P7A got up to this week in our learning journey:

We now have our roles for Reciprocal Reading of A Monster Calls, with 4 chapters to read for next Thursday where we will complete a task and then share and discuss with our group.

In Numeracy, we have finished up the Fractions part of F.D.P and will move onto Percentages next week. Homework is now through Sumdog which the school has now paid a Subcription for. There was a diagnostic to complete to begin with, where everyone did well, and a Fractions homework task. I have also put up a 100 question bonus task on F.D.P. as some extra practice before the end of topic assessment.

Tuesday was an exciting day with our first visit to St. Margaret’s, where the children got a chance to experience some high school lessons with secondary teachers and get a feel for the building. Everyone was very excited, a little bit nervous but all enjoyed the experience. We began with a swimming lesson, followed by maths and then business. A good start to our transition to high school.

   

On Wednesday, as part of Burns’ Day, we got the chance tot try some haggis or vegetarian haggis if we wanted to – overall it was a hit with those who tried it and there are some in the class who never want to even smell it again! We had also had two weeks to prepare a poem or song of Robert Burns to perform for the class and everyone did braw! We took videos of our recitals but unfortunately they are too big to upload here, if you send in a usb drive, we’ll send home a copy if your child wanted a video taken.

We have concluded our work on relationships and moral education in the God’s Loving Plan scheme, approaching lessons in a mature and responsible way.

Here are some pupil highlights of the week:

Liam Said, “We went swimming in St. Margaret’s for the first time ever and for a visit. We had haggis for Robert Burns Night and did poems as well.”

Ruqayyah said, “This week we had our first St. Margaret’s transition. We did games for swimming and maths also business. In maths we had to record our strategies for seeing how many ways we can button up a coat. In business we designed our P7 to S1 transition logos on the computers. We also practiced our Burns poems for Burns’ day and recited them in front of the class! I had an amazing week in P7A!”

Millan said, ” I liked when we went to high school and it was fun. We also performed poems on Robert Burns Day, everyone had haggis, neeps and tatties.”

Zahra said, ” I  loved playing Sumdog and doing the diagnostics. I also loved doing the Burns poems.”
