This week we have discussed International Day of People with Disabilities, which will be on the 3rd of December. This is a global event promoting equality for people with disability and celebrates their achievements. It is also a day to promote awareness of the challenges faced by over 1 billion people living with disabilities, and the role communities and societies play in breaking down barriers to inclusion. We discussed hidden disabilities like deafness, blindness, anxiety, ADHD, Autism and other disabilities which although can’t be seen from outside they are important to recognise and be respectful with these conditions.

Article 2 states:  The Convention applies to every child without discrimination, whatever their ethnicity, gender, religion, language, abilities or any other status, whatever they think or say, whatever their family background.

Article 23 states: A child with a disability has the right to live a full and decent life with dignity and, as far as possible, independence and to play an active part in the community. Governments must do all they can to support disabled children and their families.

Global Goal 10 – reduce inequalities and promote equity

We are continuing to create imaginative Christmas Gifts and rehearsing our performance for the  Christmas Enterprise Show on the 9th of December. On Wednesday we celebrate the Feast of Saint Andrew the Patron Saint of Scotland.

One of our highlights of the week was decorating our classroom door and try to win the best christmas door competition. This morning we had a full rehearsal in the school hall for our Enterprise Show next week. We also practised for our Advent Service on Monday afternoon which the Primary 5A and Primary 4A &4B will attend. Looking forward to seeing our families at our Christmas Enterprise next Friday 9.15.
