This week we have been learning the sounds ‘ai’ and ‘oa’ and how to read and write words with these sounds.  For writing we were able to give a talking sentence about a picture on plants.  We also wrote an inf0rmation report about apples.

This week we have been learning about how we can record information using tally charts and bar graphs.  We made our own tally charts and could answer questions about them.

We made a class tally chart for our favourite topping on toast and then made it in to a bar graph.  The most popular topping was chocolate spread.

We listened to the story the Widow’s mite and discussed how the widow gave all the money she had while the wealthy people gave some of their money but had some left over.

During Outdoor Learning we continued to explore the loose parts and made a tent and bridge.  We also developed our gross motor skills using the scooters and bikes.  We discussed the importance of wearing a helmet and made sure they were on securely.

This week is the start of Fair Trade Fortnight.  We discussed what fair trade means and drew our own logo.  We took the logo home to teach our families about fair trade and that it means the farmers get a fair price for his/her products.  We looked online at products in the shops that have a fair trade logo.

We have great fun using the Block Play this week and created some amazing things.  Pupils Highlights:

Lilly ‘ I made a working table and a fire with the block play’

Eli ‘I made a gaming room with Lewis’.

Lewis ‘ We wrote a sign to say we made the room’

Safaa ‘I made a ship’

Reesa ‘I made a desk and an office’.

Congratulations to Ishaan who is the Hot Chocolate winner this week.
