We have all been working really hard this week.

In maths we are using our addition and subtraction skills to solve word problems.  We have been looking at identifying the key vocabulary in a problem and how this helps us work out which operation we need to use.  We also learned how to use a calculator to add up different amounts which was great fun.  Everyone has been trying really hard and Mrs Callaghan is very proud of us all!

For literacy we are working on description texts.  We have explored the structure of a description text and the different types of language that is used – particularly the use of adjectives.  We also created a describing bubble for our wall to help us remember the different types of sentences we could use when describing.

As part of our recycling topic, we looked at how paper is made and why it is important to be environmentally friendly with paper.  We learned how paper is recycled after we put it into the blue bin and then we made our own recycled paper – which is currently drying in class over the weekend.  It was great fun and everyone enjoyed the squishy feeling of the paper pulp we used.

We linked our RE to Anti-Bullying week and listened to a story about a “little being” who was being unkind to his friends.  It reminded us that we need to be kind and caring to our friends and make sure we are behaving in a considerate way, otherwise our friends would be sad.

It was lovely to attend our school assembly today about Catholic Education and particularly swaying along to the hymns.

We are all looking forward to another super week of learning next week.
