Hello special SJO families,
P2A have had a busy week!
Here are the learning highlights of the week from the Green Table:
Kayla loved looking at moss with a magnifying glass in the woodland. This task was a follow up to a fun lesson about magnifying glasses and microscopes. We looked at objects on the smartboard that had been put under a microscope. We had a dog’s nose, a buttercup, a bubble and moss among others. The children were AMAZED! We only had one person guess correctly! It was tricky!
Pola enjoyed the lesson about Children’s Rights. We were focusing on the right to be safe, to learn and to play. The children worked in groups to create a Rights Garden. One table made a sky, one grass, one flowers and one bees. The finished garden is beautiful! Pola contributed to creating the sky.
Emily liked our prayer writing activity when we thanked God for something or someone in our lives.
Nathan loved when he was chosen to be the ‘teacher’ in our maths ‘Counting Cowboys’ game where the children had to read numbers up to 100. I think we might have a future teacher in our midst!
Ben’s favourite part of the week was today when he was chosen to be a Lead Learner. The Lead Learners have many jobs but the most important one is to choose a target for the class to work on. Both Lead Learners chose ‘Push chairs in’ as the target. This was a fantastic target as it links to the ‘right to be safe’ we were learning about.
Isabel was excited to play ‘Snakes and Ladders’ as one of the maths activities this week.
My highlight was today when we had our first ‘Free Writing Friday’ session. The children spoke about, then drew their story before writing it. Some children then shared the story with the class and had the choice of projecting their voice or speaking into the sparkly microphone. The stories were fantastic! We had mermaid stories, fish getting trapped in clams, Santa getting stuck in a chimney are just to mention a few. I am looking forward to next Friday already!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
Homework will start next week so be sure to check this out on Seesaw. Homework will be issued on a Monday and due on a Friday but can be submitted before then if you wish.
