P1A Weekly Learning Highlights 30th January 2026

It has been another busy and fun week of learning in P1A.

In Literacy we have been learning the sounds z and w and have been working hard on formation.  We also completed word building tasks related to each sound.  We have been working on holding sounds to blend when reading.  For writing this week we wrote a sentence using z words.

In Maths and Numeracy we have continued learning to count in 2s, 5s and 10s.  We looked at estimation and used our knowledge of numbers to make a sensible guess of how many objects were in a pile without counting them.  We did colour by number subtraction also.  We also looked at odd and even numbers and are beginning to remember what numbers are odd and even.

We went for a walk around our local area and looked at types of houses.  We later drew our own house for a wall display.  We did a street sign letter scavenger hunt around our local area.

In Religion we listened to the story of Creation and completed an art activity to retell the story.

For Outdoor learning this week we enjoyed playing with the scooters and bikes, footballs and loose parts.  Lots of wonderful bridges and dens were made with the loose parts.
