This week has been great in Primary 3. We have been having lots of fun as well as getting back into our learning and working really hard.
In literacy this week, we have read our new Word boost book and explored our new words. We have been focussing on adjectives this week and have been using a thesaurus to find alternative words to replace boring adjectives in our writing. We learned that a word which means the same thing as another word is called a synonym!
In numeracy and maths this week, we have been doing addition using the column method. The children were awesome at this and lots of us tried doing sums with carrying in them. Everyone was wonderful and did a great job. We are beginning to round off money by looking at getting change when buying an item, and will finish this off next week.
We made some beautiful firework pictures for the new year using paint and straws, and we explored mixing together primary colours to create secondary colours. We started our new topic yesterday which is ‘West Lothian’. We discussed what a local council is and looked at a map of all the places in West Lothian. In RE, we read the book of Genesis where God creates humans in his own image and we talked about all the ways in which we are unique.
Bradley had a lot of fun doing his chimney sums and getting all his answers correct. He was super proud of himself and so was Miss Duddy!
Rose enjoyed doing her ‘God Created Me’ worksheet where she wrote all about herself, her features and things she likes.
Martyna had fun learning about our new topic West Lothian, and enjoyed doing her map which we added some places to and coloured in.
Luca enjoyed playing on the iPads and had fun playing Top marks maths games!
Victoria enjoyed numeracy this week and learned how to carry tens when using the column method. She was awesome at it and thought it was very fun!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend and get lots of rest after a fun week full of learning,
Miss Duddy.
