This week has been a very exciting week!
We started the week by reading Room on the Broom and we set up different Halloween activities in the classroom. Our favourites have been the potion area and the little pumpkin baskets. We loved filling the baskets with lots of loose parts to pretend they were sweeties.
In literacy, we were learning all about the sound ‘i’. We used the magnetic boards to make words with all the sounds we know. In writing, we took photos pretending to ride on the broomstick and we had to write a sentence about what we had room for on our broom. We used our common words confidently and tried to sound out the words we knew.
In maths, we have continued our work on addition. We looked at the bonds for 7 and we got to write the sums on the teaching table.
In RE, we have learned all about All Saints Day and All Souls Day. We decorated candles to display on the RE wall to remember all the people who have died. We also read the story The Best Diwali Ever and made Rangoli patterns using paper plates and colourful shapes.
On Thursday for Halloween, we spent some time with our buddies and we designed a Halloween costume for Miss Stebbing. There were lots of creative ideas. In the afternoon, we went into group with the other P1, P2 and P3 children to take part in lots of different activities. We enjoyed dooking for apples, playing bingo, dancing, making a pumpkin or ghost craft and going on a scavenger hunt to find Halloween pictures.
Some of our personal highlights this week are:
Dawid – I enjoyed playing with the conkers.
Niamh – I enjoyed writing about Room on the Broom.
Miles – I enjoyed drawing.
Muhammad – I enjoyed reading books.
Vivaan – I enjoyed learning about the letter i.
Freddie – I enjoyed writing about Room on the Broom.
Congratulations to Harrison who is our Hot Chocolate winner this week for trying hard to write a super sentence. Our new Reading Champion is Niamh, who tries hard to read all the common words and reads lots of books during ERIC time. Well done Niamh!
