Primary 1A Learning Highlights 21st April 2023

This week we have been learning all about plants. We talked about what plants need to grow and then we planted some sunflower seeds and cress seeds. The cress has already started to grow. We learned about the names of the parts of a plant and made special lift the flap books. In writing, we wrote the instructions to plant a seed and we had to make sure they were all in the correct order.

In maths, we have been learning to read the number words. We played the teddy game on Topmarks to help us to practise. We also had to match the numbers and words on our sheet. It was a bit confusing with four and five but we know we have to look at the whole word to see what one is correct.

In RE, we learned about Eid and we made special lanterns.

For Outdoor Learning we went up to the Woodland. We practised our fire pit safety rules and then had some choosing our own learning time. Some people built a den, some climbed trees and some people cooked some delicious meals in the mud kitchen.

We decided to change the classroom around this week and we have created a construction area. We helped Miss Stebbing to move some things around and told her what things we thought should change.

Some of our personal highlights this week are:

Joshua – I enjoyed going into the MUGA at break time.

Harald – I enjoyed playing in the Woodland.

Lillian – I liked learning about Eid.

Eve – I liked learning about seeds and colouring the flower in.

Kacper – I liked planting the seeds.

Alexander – I liked drawing.

Miss Stebbing – I enjoyed being out in the Woodland and I was very impressed with how everyone remembered all the rules for the fire pit.

Congratulations to Mohitha who is our hot chocolate winner this week.
