Dear parents,
Another week has flown by in P5A!
This week we have been working really hard in literacy! We started our week off with a mystery picture quiz and a game of spelling charades to help us understand the meaning of our WordBoost words- this was so much fun. On Tuesday, we used the internet to research and plan our writing discussion which was focused on the question ‘Should we all grow our own fruit and vegetables?’. We explored various arguments and points of view and used these really well in our writing. We also explored sensing verbs and complex conjunctions and made a huge effort to include some of these in our writing- super work P5A! Our literacy class highlight of the week was definitely on Thursday! We recapped and furthered our knowledge of summarising and created our very own story summary cube based on the new John Lewis Christmas advert.
Throughout numeracy we have continued to work on counting and giving change. We have loved engaging in lots of practical role-play activities and plenty of fun games to practice this! We even designed our own ice creams, totalled the cost to make them and worked out the change we were left with! We also played a game of ‘giving change Kahoot!’ on the iPad’s which we all absolutely loved! In addition to money, we have been learning about coordinates and this week we challenged our partner to a game of battleships!
Similar to the past couple of weeks, we have been working our socks off to get ready for our Enterprise in December! We have been working so well within our groups to make our creations and even managed to squeeze in a few Christmas Carol practice sessions this week too!
Lots of pupils in the class said that their favourite moment of the week was outdoor learning! Alongside some other classes, we had a very special tree delivery with a big job to plant all of the trees before the weather turned for the worst. Luckily, we managed to escape the worst of the weather and partnered up with a P7 to plant our trees! Well done everyone!
This week was #Anti-bullyingweek2022 and this year’s campaign had a theme of ‘Reach Out’. We tuned into a live BBC lesson with lots of other schools around the country to learn about what this means and explore different bullying scenarios. One way of raising awareness for Anti-bullying Week is through Odd Sock Day so we decided to design our own odd socks with some powerful messages about bullying. We plan on placing these around the school to raise awareness about bullying!
This week our Hot Chocolate winner is Eilidh! Congratulations! Eilidh was incredibly kind and caring towards her friends in the class and showed all of our school values.
Thank you for another fantastic week everyone, have a lovely weekend!
