We have had a great week in Primary 3B!
This week we have continued to practice our spellings in a variety of ways. Some activities included threading letters to form our words, which also allowed us to focus on our fine motor skills! Children took part in group tasks where they had to select a ball with the word and read it to their peers. Their peers then had to write the word using chalks, while the ‘reader’ checked the accuracy of everyone’s spelling! Children also constructed their own word searches and completed ‘look, write, cover, check’ as part of their learning.
In Maths, we have been revising telling the time on an analogue clock, using o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. We discussed and practiced dividing the clock into halves and quarters to help our understanding. We also discussed and tested our prior knowledge of twelve hour digital time, which will become our main focus next week.
We have began to explore poetry as part of our Literacy work. Children enjoyed visiting the woodlands where they listened to some Halloween poems and joined in with these. This week we have focused on the rhyming language that exists within poetry; listening to examples, matching rhyming words and pictures, as well as completing sentences with an appropriate rhyming word.
As part of the lead up to Halloween, we enjoyed watching to the story ‘Room on the Broom’ in Spanish. Next week we will examine some key Halloween vocabulary in more detail.
As part of Health and Well Being, we have been discussing our emotions; and focused this week on anger. The children discussed feelings of anger and possible triggers. Children then discussed common strategies to become calm and shared their ideas.
We congratulate Table Tres on being our ‘Star Table’ this week with 19 pebbles!
Congratulations also to Matthias on winning this week’s Hot Chocolate Award! We are very proud of you!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
