Thank you so much for all of the wonderful donations of materials for our Christmas Enterprise. We will certainly be able to make lots of different products to sell . This week the article we have explored Article 24 says: Every child has the right to the best possible health. Governments must provide good quality healthcare, clean water, nutritious food, and a clean environment and education on health and well-being so that children can stay healthy. Richer countries must help poorer countries achieve this. This follows on from Wear Red to Say No to Poverty last Friday when we all made stickers.

We began our activities for our Christmas Enterprise Topic with discussion about poverty and how it can have an impact on the  physical and mental health of people because of a lack of nutritious food, heating and warm clothes/shoes. Both Primary 5 classes are trying to raise money by using donated items and things we find in nature. This has been very exciting as you can imagine.

In our maths lessons we are trying to stick to a budget to buy toys and other items. The children are using coins and notes to display their understanding of money – paying for items and getting the correct change. This will help them on the day of the Christmas Enterprise Show as they will be the retailers selling their goods.

In Literacy we have been finding out about onomatopoeia. By finding the sounds of fireworks we created

sound banks and then wrote fun firework poems.

As part of our Religious Education on Monday we learned a little bit about Diwali and made some Rangoli Patterns which are used as part of the preparations. Happy Diwali to everyone.

In our Outdoor Learning we collected lots of twigs to create some of our enterprise items, we gathered different types of leaves to identify some of the different tree types we have in our woodlands. We also created halloween pictures from found objects in the woods.

On Monday it is Halloween and Primary 5 are allowed to come to school dressed in their costumes. Please remember they will be out playing and costumes may get damaged through wear and tear.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. See you all next week.
