P6B Learning highlights – week beginning 21.2.22

Another great week of fun and learning in Primary 6B!

Here are some highlights we would like to share with you:

Literacy: We have been developing our understanding of information reports. This week we made our own notes on the brain as part of our human body topic. We were then able to use these notes to create our information reports in the correct structure and self assess against the success criteria. We were able to use red, amber and green to show what we are doing well and what we need to improve on.

Numeracy and maths: This week in maths we have been using our knowledge of times tables to add and subtract fractions. Our times tables helped as we had to find common denominators. We also enjoyed playing around the world and taking part in our Sumdog and Prodigy challenges.

Fairtrade fortnight: As part of fairtrade fortnight we looked at ways we can help coffee, cocoa and banana farmers. We then created information leaflets on what we had researched. Here are some examples:

We also created some fantastic artwork based on the Kelpies which we researched last week as part of our Scotland topic!

As part of our Scotland topic we also enjoyed our challenge of creating the Loch Ness monster with clay. This took quite a bit of perseverance and we had to shape the clay quickly before it got too dry. They are a work in progress and we look forward to painting them soon.

Well done to Mohid our over and above winner this week!

Have a great weekend,

Mrs Roy
