Pupil Highlights:

Emily: I liked writing all the sections of a discussion piece of writing. The issue I chose to write about was whether all children should own a metal bottle.

Josh N: I liked learning about Kosher and Non Kosher food.

Filip: I liked answering word problems involving negative numbers.

Daisy: I liked learning when we have to use negative numbers and writing my discussion text. I chose to write about whether boys should be allowed to wear girls clothes.

Elizabete: I liked writing my discussion text and I chose to write whether owning a parrot is a good pet to have.

Aoife: I liked ordering negative numbers from smallest to largest.

Teacher Highlights:

I am delighted that we have all completed a discussion text after practising the opening statement, the series of arguments, the concluding statement several times. We will be using our success criteria to self and peer assess our work next week.

I have included an opening statement, arguments for and against, and a concluding statement.
I have given both sides of the issue in my opening statement.
I have used connectives like furthermore, in addition, on the other hand, finally at the start of each new paragraph.
I have made sure that a new paragraph has been used for every reason, ‘for or against.’
I have used the word because to further explain my reasons.
I have used the word but correctly and not begun a new sentence with this word.
I have included what I feel about the issue in the concluding statement.
I have used capital letters and full stops and checked my spelling.
