Good Afternoon Primary 7,
I hope you are all well and enjoying the transition work you have been completing with your high school. I understand that many of you may be busy with transition work so don’t worry if you don’t manage to complete this task.
This week, instead art, I am going to set you a technology task. Since you have been studying and comparing Scotland with Canada, I thought you could use your technology skills to create a model of a landmark from one of the countries. I have attached below a short video showing some Scottish Landmarks and another showing some Canadian landmarks. Watch the videos and choose a landmark that you would like to make a model of e.g. The Forth Rail Bridge in Scotland or C.N. Tower in Canada. Feel free to choose another landmark that is not on either of the videos. They are just there to give you some ideas.

Below is a document with an image of an engineer design process. This week we are going to concentrate on the Ask, Imagine and Plan stages. We will move on to Create and Improve stages next week.
Ask: What is the problem? You have to create a model of a Scottish or Canadian landmark. Are there any constraints? Think about the materials you have available, will this impact the type of model you can make? How much space do you have to store your model? Can you think of any other constraints you might come across?
Imagine: Brainstorm different ideas for your model and choose the one you want to take forward to the planning stage.
Plan: Create a plan of your model. Be sure to record the materials that you are going to use, how you are going to attach the different parts together and the order that you will complete each section.
Once you have completed this, put a copy of your plan on your personal learning blog so we can see it. Before next week, try to gather together the different materials you are going to need and think about how you might want to improve your plan further.
Have a great afternoon!
Mrs Craig
