Good morning P7, hope you are all staying safe and well.

Today’s Literacy Work:

The last few weeks we have been looking at persuasive writing, where we share our points about one side of the argument. Today is slightly trickier as we are going to be creating a piece of discursive writing, this is where you must share both sides of the argument, even though you might not agree with one.

The PowerPoint will give you an explanation of what a discursive piece of writing looks like, and will give step by step examples. The planning sheet will give you some space to write out some of the points you are going to make it your writing – try to come up with 3 or 4 bullet points for each side of the argument. The template will tell you exactly how to lay out your writing and the super sentence starters are just some ideas of persuasive language that we have used before. Remember you can complete these in your jotter or on a piece of technology.

This week you are arguing both sides of the question ‘Should kids be banned from buying junk food?’ It will be tough when you have to write about both sides but this is great preparation for high school.

We continue our work with Speed, Distance and Time.  Remember to look at the info in the textbook which explains what to do or revisit the website from Tuesday or the PowerPoint from Monday for advice and examples of what to do.

Book 2a are now working on Speed calculations.  What is the name of the Speed, Distance, Time relationship ...That means you are dividing distance by time today.

Remember that units would be in mph (miles per hour) kmph (kilometers per hour) m/s (meters per second) etc.

2b SDT Speed

Book 3a have a mix of SDT today but also have work on dealing with time and decimals.  0.5 on a calculator is 30 mins not 50.  0.25 is 15 mins not 25.

Remember to post your work to your Personal Learning Blogs, we look forward to seeing your excellent work and reading today’s writing.
