P7B Weekly Highlights

This week P7B has been taking part in the West Lothian Sumdog Competition.  Children have up to 1000 questions they can answer and are given time in school and encouraged to also participate at home.  Maida, Kathryn and Heidi managed to complete all 1000 questions! Heidi finished 9th in the whole of West Lothian and received a nice certificate.

One of the particular highlights of the week was working with our P1 buddies, making Stick Man characters based on the book by Julia Donaldson.  We went up to our woodland area to find materials and help our buddies create their own stick man.

As part of Fairtrade Fortnight P7B held a design a t-shirt competition and Maida’s entry was deemed the winner by our impartial judge, Mrs Bett.  Olivia and Anna-Lucia were close runners up.

We continue to prepare for our P7 Show ‘Archibald’s War’ with P7A which will be held at Deans High School on the 1st of April.  Your help in sending in your child’s costume and helping to learn their lines would be appreciated.

In maths, we have been using the Real Life Problem Solving app on the netbooks to develop our problem solving strategies.  This week’s problem involving square numbers was interesting and one task was really challenging.  Meriel and Charlie were successful in solving the problem using the guess, check and improve strategy.
