Primary 1 Friday 22nd May

Good Morning Primary 1, Its Friday again!

Some learning ideas for today:

Listening and understanding task

Odd one out: Remind them to listen carefully. Tell them you are going to list 4 things and they have to tell you which is the odd one out each time, ask them to explain their answer:

• Sheep, cow, chicken, lion
• Apple, orange, grapes, carrot
• Chair, table, sofa, hat
• Cabbage, yoghurt, potato, broccoli
• Football, rugby, judo, cricket

Now can you come up with some of your own?

Number

Two tasks from number grid

Work on partitioning with 5 using your 10 frame. Place 5 counters in the top row of the ten frame and then flash the frame with different numbers of counters on the bottom. Can you tell how many there all all together. Think about the sum too (5 + 4 = 9) (5 + 2 = 7)  for example.

Enjoy your weekend primary 1 and I will see you back here on Monday!

Primary 1 Wednesday 20th May

Good morning Primary one. Here is today’s suggested learning.

Spelling/reading

Practice reading, writing and spelling your sight words in your word tub.

Writing Task

Draw a picture of your favourite ice-cream. It can be any flavour and have as many toppings as you like. Colour your picture and come up with a name for it. What would it be called if it was on a menu in a restaurant? Now write a sentence or two to describe your ice-cream so customers will know what is in it!

H&W

Think about your favourite board game. What are the rules, what makes it so fun, how many players, how do you move? How do you win? What do you need to play?

Now have a go at designing your own. Think about everything you will need. Look back at the questions we have already thought about for your favourite game.  Create it and play it with someone at home. When you play you might need to make changes but that’s ok!

Here are some attachments to help you.

Design Your Own Board Game Worksheets

Health and Wellbeing

Think about the foods in the 5 food groups and what foods are healthy and unhealthy.  In your jotter, draw a healthy plate of something you’d like to eat.  If you can, with an adult, try and make some of the foods with and send me a photo!
