Good morning primary 1!

Here are some activities you could look at today…

Reading

Try selecting a non-fiction book today from home  or using oxford reading owl E books. Think about these questions BEFORE you start reading…

Q1) what is the title of the book?

Q2) What is on the front cover?

Q3) What information do you think you might find?

Q4) Can you find a contents page?

Q5) Can you find an index page?

Now enjoy the book…

Q6) what did you find most interesting?

Q7) Write/share two things you have learned from the book.

Number 

Select an activity from the number grid.

Revise telling the time to the hour and half past. Use your home made clock or one of our time games that we have played on education city or on ICT games.

H&W

We need to remember to look after ourselves as well as others. Take a look at the attached task and think of ways you can be good to yourself. Its good to check in with how you are feeling. This activity can help you think of ways to picking yourself up if your feeling a little sad, or just want to treat yourself.

Good morning everyone, I hope you are all well.  Here are some tasks for today.

Virtual Zoo

Welcome to our virtual trip to Chester Zoo – I hope you are very excited and looking forward to meeting the animals. If you click on the link above  for the zoo and scroll down to the Virtual Zoo Day section.

If you visit Virtual Day 1 –  You can see and learn about the Red Panda, Giraffes and Elephants.

Virtual Day 2- You can see the baby Meerkats have breakfast and you can have brunch with an Eastern Black Rhino.

Virtual Day 3 -You can learn about Tree Kangaroos and meet the Lions.

Virtual Day 4 -You can meet the Asian Short Clawed Otters and  see the Elephants have a pool party!

Virtual Day 5 – You can meet the Chimpanzees and The Painted Dogs.

There are many more animals you can visit and learn about, it is your zoo trip so you choose what you want to see and you don’t have to watch all of them but I would like you to at least visit 2 of the animals. You can go back and learn about them at any time over the next few weeks.

Some learning ideas for today…

Literacy

Keep practicing reading and writing your sight words in your word tub.

Writing 

Today you could learn about imperative verbs, these are ‘bossy’words. Watch the short video. Pause before hearing the answer to questions to give yourself thinking time.

Now use the word mat to help you write two of your own sentences using an imperative verb, a ‘bossy’ word, at the start. Remember capital letters, spacing and full stops.

Maths

Activity from number grid

How many ways can you make the number eight? write all your addition sums down on paper. Remember to think about layout. (7+1=8)

STEM

Today’s challenge is about building a bridge. You could do this outside if the weather is nice.
