Primary 6/7 – Friday 20th February

Primary 6/7 have had a wonderful week with lots of great learning activities in class. On Friday morning, we discussed our week in school and decided that we would like to share these thoughts about our learning this week:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • We feel that we are making very good progress in PE with badminton as we are able to control the shuttle more as we build our rallies with our partners
  • We feel very positive about starting to prepare for our first class debate as we have worked hard on researching and preparing speeches
  • We enjoyed our writing task this week and made good progress as we began our focus on persuasive writing and we had to choose whether we wanted to argue for or against school uniform
  • We all really enjoyed sharing our ideas and opinions in our Learning Hub groups on Friday morning
  • Our Rights champions felt that we had very good meetings this week as we prepare for our next Rights Day in school
  • We all really enjoyed starting to learn about the history of World War II this week in class

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • Some of us felt that our comprehension work with Mrs Robertson was a bit tricky as it was hard to find the information in the text to answer the questions
  • Some of us found our Maths work on fractions and decimals and how to convert from one to the other a bit difficult
  • Lots of us felt that there needs to be better listening when we are out for our outdoor learning sessions

Our school value award winners for this week are Georgia and Zac. Congratulations!

Well done P6/7 for a fantastic, busy week. Have a lovely weekend.

Friday 20th February 2026 P2/3

We have had a short week this week after our February break and have enjoyed being back in class with our friends. There has been some good listening and talking this week as children have been keen to share some of the things they have been doing. Some children uploaded pictures and videos to seesaw of  art work they have created and projects they were involved in. It was nice to share these in class.

Tickled Pink

  • We worked together in groups to plan for our class assembly – we were thinking about which meta skills we used while we created a group comic strip. We had to focus, plan, design, work together and listen to each other.
  • We enjoyed creating short drama sketches.
  • We enjoyed putting items into equal groups during maths time, in preparation for our multiplication work.
  • We made array cities and we worked hard on them, all of our buildings look really nice and we are proud of them.

Green for Growth

  • Some of us found our Short Read comprehension tasks a bit tricky but we have ambition and resilience so we will become more confident the more we use it.
  • We need to try harder to keep our jacket area tidy and make sure we hang them on the peg.
  • We need to try and not play in the really muddy parts of the playground because our class  carpet was very muddy this week, some people have been bringing in gym shoes to wear in class.

Primary 2/3 Friday 6th February 2026

What a busy week we’ve had in Primary 2/3   Here’s what we would like to share about our learning:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • During Health and Wellbeing we learned about table manners and we are trying to demonstrate these when eating lunch in the dining hall.  We also discussed different celebrations when families eat together and we each chose a special occasion and created a menu for it,
  • We learned about speech marks and tried to include them in our narrative texts.
  • Inspired by Oor Wullie and The Broons we worked in groups and started creating our own comic strips.  This will give us the chance to share many of the Scots words we’ve learned this term.
  • During our outdoor learning session we learned about the Arctic and Antartica and we played a Polar Lands game.  We were pleased to earn an ‘Exploring’ stamp in our WWF Happy in Nature passports.
  • In Maths we used what we’d learned about tally marks to collect data from the class about their favourite Scottish foods, animals and landmarks.  We then used this information to create pictograms.  We also enjoyed looking at various online pictograms and interpreting them.

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • It was tricky trying to remember exactly where to put the speech marks but hopefully the comic strips we’re working on will help make this clearer.
  • We loved making Valentine cards during our joint play session with Primary 1 and we would like to learn more about cards with pop ups and inserts.

Our school value award winners for this week are Rose and Ollie. Congratulations!

Have a lovely February break everyone!

Seafield Snippets Friday 30th January 2026

Another great week here at Seafield Primary School.

Many thanks to those who attended our Parent Council Meeting and to members who have attended or  indicated attendance at our Positive Relationships Focus Group Meetings. Your support and ideas are hugely valued and welcomed.

At our first meeting, on Monday, we looked at the existing positive relationships guidance, including how the school deals with bullying. The next meeting date is Wednesday 18th February 2026 at 10am, feel free to come along and share your ideas.

Primary 3/4 did a fantastic job today sharing their learning about Rainforests. The children demonstrated their learning by taking the audience on a tour of the Rainforest, describing the animals found, highlighting the dangers of deforestation and sharing a number of interesting facts! A huge thank you to our families for supporting your young people to learn their lines and songs and a massive thank you to Miss White for preparing our learners so well.

Yesterday, Primary 5/6 and 6/7 invited the community disco group to join us for a wonderful and memorable Burns Supper. The community group were entertained with songs, poems, dancing and more. What a wonderful link with our fantastic community!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Primary 6/7 – Friday 30th January

Primary 6/7 have had a fantastic week with lots of great learning activities in class. On Friday morning, we discussed our week in school and decided that we would like to share these thoughts about our learning this week:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • We really enjoyed the first week of our new timetable with Mrs Robertson joining us in our class
  • Lots of us enjoyed practising our Scottish ceilidh dancing in PE as we practised for our Burns Supper event.
  • Our Primary 7s continued to enjoy their online Spanish transition lesson with the focus this week on learning how to say the names of pets/animals as well as how to ask and answer questions about whether you have pets at home

However, our main event this week was our amazing Burns Supper as we did lots or rehearsals and then performed it for our local DISCO group (Seafield Senior Citizens). It is always wonderful to perform our poems, songs, dancing, etc for our community group and it was very positive and successful again this year. We all really enjoyed taking part in this brilliant event and singing our fantastic Scottish songs so enthusiastically. We also really enjoyed doing our Scottish dancing at the event and reciting Scottish poems as well as sharing some of our own Scottish poems. The DISCO group thoroughly enjoyed the event and gave us lots of positive comments and messages about how much they appreciated and loved the fantastic effort of the children.

A massive well done to Primary 5/6 and Primary 6/7 for their hard work and excellent performance of the Burns Supper.

Our school value award winners for this week are Harris and Mason. Congratulations!

Well done P6/7 for a magnificent, busy week. Have a lovely weekend.

Seafield Snippets Friday 23rd January 2026

This week has been a very busy week! The children all looked amazing in school on Monday, dressed in clothes that demonstrate their cultures, preferences and identities. It was a wonderful opportunity for me to learn more about the children, including clubs they attend, favourite colours and cultures they celebrate.

I would like to thank our families for supporting your young people to learn their Scottish poems. The performances were super and teachers struggled to select only three pupils to perform at assembly. Those chosen did an amazing job today, showing resilience and ambition throughout. Well done!

As part of our school improvement plan this year, we are reviewing our positive relationships approaches in school and I look forward to working with the first parent focus group on Monday to gather parent/carer views. If you are free on Monday and would like to join, details can be found below.

This week, I have heard P3/4 rehearsing their assembly for next week. I can’t wait to hear them on the day!

Have a lovely weekend everyone

Primary 6/7 – Friday 23rd January

Primary 6/7 have had a great week with lots of brilliant learning activities in class. On Friday morning, we discussed our week in school and decided that we would like to share these thoughts about our learning this week:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • We really enjoyed our Literacy work with poetry recitals this week as lots of people worked really hard and knew parts or all of their poems off by heart
  • We all really enjoyed working on writing our Toast to the Laddies and Toast to the Lassies texts/poems for our Burns Supper
  • We also enjoyed our PE on Tuesday as we felt it was good to do a different sport activity this week
  • Primary 7s really enjoyed their online Spanish transition lesson with the focus this week on learning how to say country names in Spanish and how to say where we come from
  • We really enjoyed outdoor learning as we had some choice for free time outside

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • Some of us felt that our comprehension work with Mrs Flynn was a bit tricky as it was hard to find the information in the text and there was a little too much noise in the room to help us stay focussed on the questions
  • Some of us found it a bit tricky to pronounce some of the country names and other words in Spanish

Our lead learners were Che, Matthew, Matilda and Archie.  They decided on the following three targets for the class; to be responsible in the playground, to avoid shouting across the classroom and to try to make sure we don’t argue with the teacher. They observed lots of learners in the class meeting those targets, which is great news.

Our school value award winners for this week are Annie and Isla. Congratulations! Also, huge congratulations to Faith, Ben and Ruaridh who recited their Scottish poems at our school Burns Assembly on Friday morning.

Well done P6/7 for a wonderful, busy week. Have a lovely weekend.

Primary 2/3 Friday 23rd January

What a super week it’s been in Primary 2/3   Here’s what we would like to share about our learning:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • We learned the Scots names for different animals and were able to write a sentence using Scots words and illustrate this.
  • We learned about alliteration and used this to write poems which we then shared with the P1 class.
  • We really enjoyed our Scottish assembly on Friday. Rose, Harriet and Bella did a brilliant job of representing P2/3! It isn’t easy reciting a poem in front of the whole school so we are very proud of them.
  • We are excited about our new WWF Happy in Nature passports.  We are looking forward to getting lots of stamps in our passports during outdoor learning.

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • In Maths, we’ve been learning about equations and although we understood about each side balancing, we did find it difficult to find the missing values.
  • We’ve also been practising our joined handwriting and we found it particularly tricky to join an ‘s’ onto other letters.

Our school value award winners for this week are Zaynab and Ava. Congratulations!

Have a lovely weekend!

Primary 3/4 – Friday 23rd January

What a fabulous week it’s been in Primary 3/4.   Here’s what we would like to share about our learning:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • We have really enjoyed making props for our Assembly next week. We are so excited to perform!
  • We have enjoyed starting our new topic in Numeracy. We are working with Time and have liked using the small analogue clocks to help us!
  • We think that we have been working hard on our new writing genre and want to continue this.
  • We are also very proud of our poem readers. This morning they performed in front of the school and were fantastic!
  • We have also all been working really hard in our new reading groups.

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • Although we’ve enjoyed doing Time in Numeracy some of us found this tricky! We want to keep working on it.
  • We also have to keep practising our spelling words. Some of us are forgetting to fill in our tables.

Our school value award winners for this week are Eadie and Blake. Congratulations!

Have a lovely weekend, see you next week.
