Primary 6/7 – Friday 24th April 2026

Primary 6/7 have had a great week in school with lots of wonderful learning activities in class. On Friday morning, we discussed our week in school and decided that we would like to share these thoughts about our learning this week:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • The Primary 7 pupils who took part in the Rotary Quiz this week really enjoyed the event and taking part in the quiz, even though it was a bit tricky. They did a great job and represented the school wonderfully well and came fifth in the quiz, which was brilliant
  • We enjoyed our Writing lesson based on our debating arguments this week as nearly everyone in class managed to complete the task and most people wrote some strong arguments based on one of our class debates; social media use for young people, a four day week or the use of video technology in sport
  • We all really enjoyed getting some time outdoors this week with the lovely weather
  • Our Primary 7s enjoyed starting to plan for their leavers assembly as we discussed and decided on the songs that we will sing for the event
  • Lots of us enjoyed our new topic of Distance, Speed and Time in Maths and learning how to do those calculations
  • Lots of our Primary 7s enjoyed the High School meeting with Miss Thomson from Deans Community High School this week because they found out lots of details about timetables and subjects and got to hear some experiences from some of last year’s P7s from Seafield about how they have been getting on at Deans

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • Some of us felt that there was a bit of silliness during our debating lessons this week as prepared for our third class debate because some people were deleting paragraphs from speeches that were being written
  • Some were a little frustrated that we weren’t able to leave the school this week for Outdoor Learning as we didn’t have another adult to come out with us

Our school value award winners for this week are Harris and Archie. Massive congratulations to them both!

Well done P6/7 for an excellent week in school. Have a lovely weekend.

Primary 2/3 Friday 24th April

What a fantastic week we have had in P2/3 with the highlight being our trip to West Lothian College for the ‘Big Build’ event.

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • We loved using the real saws, hammers and nails during the Big Build and we were very good at staying safe and assessing risks.
  • We learned about Earth Day and created folding globes to display our thoughts on how we can care for the world.
  • We enjoyed working in random groups to complete a Rich Task in Maths which involved thinking  about how to display football cards. We used what we had learned recently about arrays to help us with this.
  • We had our first NYCOS music session and we really enjoyed the singing and clapping games.
  • We continued our class talks and it was interesting to find out about everybody’s favourite things.

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • We would like more opportunities to work with real tools in the future so we can get better at using them.
  • We have been trying hard to ‘Beat the Teacher’ so we need to get better at stopping chatting quickly.

Our school value award winners for this week are Olivia N and Iver for being ambitious and responsible. Well done!

Primary 1 24/04/2026

Tickled Pink (What went well this week):

  • We have enjoyed starting our new topic on minibeasts. We have learned lots of facts about insects and are excited to learn more.
  • We used tissue paper in lots of different colours to make colourful patchwork Elmer artwork in art this week.
  • We had lots of fun in music this week learning about pitch and rythm. We played a fun pitch game with a xylophone and learned the song ‘Do, Re, Mi’.

Green for Growth (What we could do better):

  • We are still working on our listening skills when we are on the carpet. We are practising good sitting and taking turns when we are speaking.
  • We are continuing to work on our kindness in the class and making sure we are all sharing.

Primary 3/4 – Friday 24th April

This week has been a great one in P3/4.  Here’s what we would like to share about our learning:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • We have all LOVED having a PJ day today. We were allowed to watch a movie and relax thanks to all of our hard work.
  • Some of us liked Writing this week. We were writing an Information Report all about our School!
  • We all really enjoyed doing the Big Build this week at West Lothian College! We got to make and build dens using real saws, hammers and nails! We all worked so hard and collaborated really well with each other.
  • We also think that we worked really hard in Numeracy this week. We did a paired rich task on Thursday and it was really fun competing against our peers.

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • We have agreed that we need to continue to check over our work more independently. We tried really hard to do this last week but want to keep it up going forward.

Our school value award winners for this week are Sofia and Eadie . Well done!

Have a lovely weekend everyone, see you on Monday!

Seafield Snippets Friday 17th April 2026

We have had a very positive start to Term 3 and it has been lovely to welcome the children back to school. Many have come in this week cheerful and settled, clearly happy to be reunited with their friends and ready to return to the familiar routines of school life.
Across the school, classes are beginning to plan their next learning blocks, and children are being actively involved in these discussions by sharing their interests, questions and ideas about what they would like to learn next. This helps ensure that learning is engaging, relevant and shaped by the children themselves.
With the weather gradually improving, we are hopeful that we will be able to make increased use of the field and outdoor spaces, giving children more opportunities for outdoor learning and play.
Today, we also held our Hub group sessions, where children worked together to develop key skills and contribute ideas linked to school improvement. Our Health and Wellbeing (HWB) group has already begun planning for an upcoming Health Week, which we look forward to sharing more details about in due course.
A more detailed Newsletter for this term has now been sent out to families, and we hope it provides a helpful overview of what lies ahead.

Honeycomb challenge results: P3/4 won the Honeycomb challenge in Term 2 and have chosen to have a PJ day with a movie in school on Friday 24th April. Children in P3/4 are welcome to dress in PJ’s or dress down on this day and bring a small comfort toy to watch the movie with, if they wish to do so.

Milkshake Monday and Values Raffle Tickets will continue this term, next week I look forward to sharing an update on these aspects of our above and beyond strategies.

Have a lovely weekend everyone

Friday 17th April 2026 – P2/3

It has been wonderful welcoming the children back after the Easter Break and we have enjoyed listening to their class talks this week. The children had free choice about how to present their talk and had 3 weeks to prepare it and tell us all about their ‘ Favourite Thing.’

Children had specific Talking Targets and Audience Targets and carried out some work on how to give constructive feedback to peers. Children also had the opportunity to ask and answer questions, we all learned a great deal about each other and interesting topics this week.

Tickled Pink –

  • Some super practical measuring this week using metre sticks, trundle wheels , measuring tapes and items to weigh and investigate volume.
  • Some wonderful class talks which showed creativity, organisation and planning. The children were able to talk about the targets – clear voice, eye contact, loud voice, interesting and containing at least 5 facts and to talk for 3 mins – The children can identify what they might need to work on for improvement.
  • Super comprehension tasks this week where texts were discussed, predictions made, questions asked and personal opinions given.
  • Took part in Hubs session

Green for Growth –

  • We found it a bit tricky identifying units of measurement for length – selecting when you would measure with mm, cm, m or km depending on what you were measuring.
  • Some of us found it tricky to Maintain our 5 Audience Targets when we listened to 3 or 4 class talks –
    • Eyes on person who is speaking
    • Ears listening
    • Feet still
    • Hands still
    • Ask a question when person has finished speaking
  • Remember to take care with craft resources and not to waste materials, put lids on pens and glue.

Primary 6/7 – Friday 17th April

Primary 6/7 have had a fantastic first week back at school after the spring break with lots of great learning activities in class. On Friday morning, we discussed our week in school and decided that we would like to share these thoughts about our learning this week:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • We all really enjoyed our last badminton lesson in PE on Tuesday as we have clearly made great improvements with our badminton skills and we all played great competitive doubles games
  • We enjoyed our Writing lesson this week as we were given the opportunity to choose our writing tasks for a “Free Writing” session this week
  • We all really enjoyed Outdoor Learning yesterday as our class were generally being more responsible and enjoyed our time outdoors
  • Many of us are looking forward to our new PE topic of football and working on different skills and ball control
  • We all really enjoyed our second class debate which took place this week because there were very strong detailed arguments in our debating speeches with clear improvements from our first debate last term
  • Lots of us felt that our Learning Hub groups made great progress and got lots of work done
  • Some of us felt positive about returning to school and getting back into the school routine
  • We felt that we did very well with our comprehension work with Mrs Robertson

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • Some of us felt that there was a bit of silliness during our Science experiment this week which resulted in the classroom becoming quite messy and water being spilled on the tables and floor
  • Some of us found getting back to the school routine a little difficult as we got back into our daily and weekly timetables

Our school value award winners for this week are Zac, Annie and Harvey. Our school award winners on the last day of term before the holiday were Matilda and Ruaridh. Massive congratulations to all five children!

Well done P6/7 for a wonderful week in school. Have a lovely weekend.

P5/6 -17.4.26

Tickled Pink

  • We have been learning 6 different art techniques this week; glitch, drip, glow, pixel, x-ray and blur. We are going to choose 4 of these to create one large image.
  • For writing we had to use at least 1 simile, 8 adjectives and 5 different types of punctuation. This was a challenge for some of us but we all created excellent stories.
  • We have welcomed a new person to our class and look forward to learning more about them.

Green for Growth

  • We need to focus our listening skills when outdoors. Some of us forgot the rules and did not listen properly which is not safe or responsible.

The lead learners this week are Remi and Jason.

Primary 3/4 – Friday 17th April

This last week has been a busy one in P3/4.  Here’s what we would like to share about our learning:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • We have enjoyed doing drama this week. We have been demonstrating our learning through drama in Topic which meant that a lot of us turned into Pirates!
  • Some of us think that we did really well during Numeracy. We created fact family posters for our wall and these are now displayed in our classroom to help us remember!
  • We all enjoyed doing free writing this week. Some of us ended up writing pages and pages.
  • In Art this week we made origami flowers. We had to fold paper into tulips and all of us did this very well! Miss White has a vase of them on her desk!
  • Lastly we think that we all worked well during our Hub groups this morning. We enjoy collaborating with other pupils in the school.

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • We agreed that we need to work on not talking over others in our class, whether this is our peers or teacher!
  • We have also agreed that we need to check over our work more independently.

Our school value award winners for this week are Robyn and Blake. Well done!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Friday 27th March Primary 2/3

The last week of term has been a busy one in P2/3.  Here’s what we would like to share about our learning:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • We learned about Fair Trade and we now know what symbol to look for on products we buy.
  • For our writing session this week we wrote persuasive texts about why we would like a class pet.  We managed to think of lots of strong arguments and used different sentence starters to make it more interesting.
  • We enjoyed working in random groups to complete a Rich Task in Maths which involved thinking of different ways to make 8. We were able to collaborate and share our strategies with each other.
  • We were also learning the two times table and were solving multiplication problems relating to this.
  • During outdoor learning we went on a Texture Adventure where we used the sense of touch to find lots of  different textures.  We were amazed with all the different textures in our local environment and this earned us another stamp in our Happy By Nature passports.
  • We also loved hearing about everyone’s achievements during the Achievement Assembly.

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • We agreed that after the holidays we would need to work harder on keeping the classroom tidy and making sure we tucked our chairs in when we left them.

Our school value award winners for this week are Zaynab and Olivia C for being ambitious and resilient Well done girls!

Have a lovely Easter break everyone!
