Friday 13th March – Primary 1

Primary 1 have had a fantastic week this week! We have been working very hard and are so proud that we won the raffle ticket award! We got to have extra playtime which we enjoyed very much.

Tickled Pink (What went well this week):

  • We have been working very hard in our literacy lessons – we learned the tricky words ‘like’ and ‘have’ and created actions to help us remember them!
  • In numeracy we have been focusing on measurement and we created some wonderful drawings based on the character ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. After we drew our pictures, we used a ruler to measure how long they were. We learned that when we are using a ruler to measure, we need to start at 0 and always make sure that we write the unit of measurement (cm). You will be able to see our wonderful display from this lesson on our door wall – we are so proud of this work!
  • In science we did two experiments. We looked at floating and sinking with raisins and we loved that we got to do this with our families at our breakfast! We then did a different experiment with our buddies where we worked together to make a maze and used magnets and paper clips to guide our characters through. This was so much fun!

Green for Growth (What we are working on):

  • Primary 1 are working hard to continuously show our school values throughout the day. We are focusing on kindness and respect in our classroom with our friends and resources.
  • We are also working on remembering to put our hands up when we want to share something with Miss Robb or the class. We have spoke about respect and are beginning to understand why we should take turns at sharing and why we should wait for someone to finish what they are saying before we speak.

Well done to Minahil and David for being our Star Award winners this week!

Have a good weekend,

Miss Robb 🙂

Primary 6/7 – Friday 13th March

Primary 6/7 have had a wonderful, busy week with lots of great learning activities in class. On Friday morning, we discussed our week in school and decided that we would like to share these thoughts about our learning this week:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • We have all very much enjoyed Science Week and lots of the activities that we have taken part in. Lots of us enjoyed taking part in a live lesson at the beginning of Science Week where we learned about light sources, reflection of light and how light moves, particularly in relation to the Solar System. We also enjoyed learning about making paper helicopters and the processes and components that made the paper helicopters rotate successfully. We did a Science Week activity with our buddies about magnets and how they work and created a fun activity with a maze. We also did some learning in class about how valuable items can deteriorate and how to protect them. Finally the children who volunteered to share our Science Week learning at assembly on Friday enjoyed creating our presentation and sharing with everyone in school
  • We all really enjoyed getting on to playing games in badminton and demonstrated some of our great skills and control that we have been working on in PE during the games
  • We all really enjoyed our WW2 topic work on Friday morning as we started some research into lots of interesting WW2 topics
  • We enjoyed getting out for some fresh air and movement during outdoor learning once the weather had improved on Thursday afternoon
  • We enjoyed finishing off our fractions, decimals and percentages work in Maths
  • We really enjoyed our reading activities this week

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • We were a little frustrated that there was quite a lot of silliness during our outdoor learning walk yesterday

Our school value award winners for this week are Amelia and Ben. Congratulations!

Well done P6/7 for a brilliant Science Week. Have a lovely weekend.

Seafield Snippets Friday 13th March 2026

Today we celebrated the end of our Science week with a school assembly, sharing the fabulous activities pupils had experienced across the week.

P1 shared their floating and sinking raisins experiment, making predictions about whether the raisins would float or sink.

P2/3 shared their fantastic models, they had to scientifically engineer them to be over 25cm tall, withstand wind for 1 minute and they had to light up.

P3/4 explored changing states in a very messy science experiment!

P5/6 explored physical reactions when carrying out mentos and coke experiment. They made predictions, recorded results and experimented with different cokes, containing different volumes of sugar.

P6/7 researched different famous scientists and made posters about chosen scientific topics, driven by the theme of Science week ‘be curious’

Once again, it was lovely to see families attending our learners breakfasts. I continued to share the progress we are making with our positive relationships policy and have now begun to create some visuals and actions to match our school values. I will be speaking to the pupil council about this further in the lead up to the Easter break. Actions and visuals will be launched after the break.

Feedback is always very welcome and this week, I was able to talk to families about how we celebrate our fantastic learners. It was suggested that each week updates were shared on our Snippets. With this in mind, please see below some fantastic news:

Primary 3/4 – Friday 13th March

We have had a great week in Primary 3/4. We have all been working really hard!

Here’s what we would like to share about our learning:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • We all loved doing the Oobleck experiment in Science. We thought that it was so fun and it demonstrated our learning this week – changing states of matter .
  • Some of us really enjoyed our Writing. We made a plan on Wednesday that helped us a lot when it came to writing our stories on Thursday.
  • In Numeracy we made a display to represent our knowledge of Fractions! We all made a paper plate into food and represented different Fractions on them, they look great!
  • We also created fantastic Spring Art this week! This display in our classroom looks fantastic!

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • We need to remember not to bring toys in during the week. Some of us are being distracted by this and we don’t want this to affect our learning.
  • We also want to work on reading over our work before we hand it to Miss White. This is something we are working really hard on.

Our school value award winners for this week are Harley and Olivia! Well done!

Have a lovely weekend, see you on Monday!

I look forward to families from P1, P3/4 and P5/6 joining us next week.

A huge thank you to our Reader Leaders for organising World Book Day. On Thursday, pupils enjoyed stop, drop and read, decorating classroom doors and sharing reading experiences in their classrooms. Today, it was great to see so many children taking part in our dress up or dress down day for World Book Day.

In school next week we will be celebrating Science Week, with children sharing what they have been learning at our Assembly on 13th March (in school only)

Primary 6/7 – Friday 6th March

Primary 6/7 have had an excellent week with lots of wonderful learning activities in class. On Friday morning, we discussed our week in school and decided that we would like to share these thoughts about our learning this week:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • We feel that we really enjoyed outdoor learning this week as we went to a different location and were being more responsible
  • We feel very positive about our first debate in class, which we held on Friday morning, as all of the speakers did really well and made very strong formal speeches about our debating topic linked to social media restrictions for young people
  • We very much enjoyed creating our classroom door display for World Book Day. We designed a fantastic display with many great images and thoughts about our current classroom novel, “Boy, Everywhere”
  • We enjoyed reading quietly when the reading bell rang in school on World Book Day
  • We really enjoyed our dress up/dress down morning on Friday for World Book Day

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • Some of us felt a little frustrated that we didn’t play badminton games in PE earlier in the week, due to a problem with untangling the badminton net and some issues around some people in class not being responsible. However, we resolved this at the end of the week and we really enjoyed playing games on Friday

Our school value award winners for this week are Niamh and Jake. Congratulations!

Well done P6/7 for a fantastic, busy week. Have a lovely weekend.

P2/3 Friday 6th March 2026

We have had a super week this week with our Family Breakfast and World Book Day. We have enjoyed a range of literacy activities and a created a fantastic door display with pictures of us reading our favourite book.

Tickled Pink –

  • We really enjoyed learning about Andy Scott’s sculpture’s – and we worked in our home groups to research an individual one. We then shared this information with other groups during a stay and stray activity.
  • We really enjoyed having our parents in and it was useful getting our IDL and Sumdog codes organised so that we can continue our learning at home.
  • We worked really well on measure tasks and had to measure items using different units of measurement.
  • We created a book review on our favourite books.
  • We are getting much quicker at our mental maths and more confident using number talks.
  • We enjoyed drop and read – each time we heard the bell we had to stop what we were doing to read our books.
  • We really enjoyed our dress down or dress as a book character on Friday.
  • We learned that Muslims  get mehndi patterns for Eid and we made our own and we also made cards to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.

Green for Growth

  • We still need to practice our multiplication skills using arrays.
  • It was tricky measuring accurately in cm and remembering to add cm after the number so that we know which unit of measurement was used.
  • We do need to continue to develop our listening skills and ensure we are not wriggling or chatting during carpet time.

Primary 5/6 6th March 2026

We have had a great week in Primary 5/6! We enjoyed celebrating World Book Day by doing lots of fun activities and decorating our door as the cover  from our class novel, “Turtle Moon”.

Tickled Pink (what went well)

  • We really enjoyed developing our badminton skills.  We are improving our accuracy with the shuttle
  • We worked hard on algebra this week and we persevered with the tricky work on fractions

Green for Growth (what we want to get better at)

  • We are going to try harder with our listening skills.  We can do this by putting our hand up and not shouting out, and not talking when someone else is talking or giving instructions.

Our Lead Learners for this week are Olivia and Effie.

Have a lovely weekend!

Primary 3/4 – Friday 6th March

What a fabulous week it’s been in Primary 3/4. We have all particularly liked dressing up as our favourite book characters today!

Here’s what we would like to share about our learning:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • We think that using stay and stray in PE worked really well this week. We loved having a chance to be the teacher and collaborating with our peers.
  • We’ve also really enjoyed decorating our classroom door! We made ours into Horrid Henry’s book cover!
  • This week we enjoyed our topic. We received a letter from Captain Tanglebeard and had to write directions to get to the treasure he hid in our classroom!
  • Some of us liked doing algebra with Mrs Bain this week.
  • We also think that our Sudoku Rich task was really fun. We are getting better every time we do it!

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • Some of us are forgetting to demonstrate our school values all of the time. We want to keep working on this!
  • We’ve also found Wordle hard this week! We think that we need try different strategies to figure it out.

Our school value award winners for this week are Ryan and Lilidh, well done!

Have a lovely weekend, see you on Monday.
