Primary 2/3 Friday 23rd January

What a super week it’s been in Primary 2/3   Here’s what we would like to share about our learning:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • We learned the Scots names for different animals and were able to write a sentence using Scots words and illustrate this.
  • We learned about alliteration and used this to write poems which we then shared with the P1 class.
  • We really enjoyed our Scottish assembly on Friday. Rose, Harriet and Bella did a brilliant job of representing P2/3! It isn’t easy reciting a poem in front of the whole school so we are very proud of them.
  • We are excited about our new WWF Happy in Nature passports.  We are looking forward to getting lots of stamps in our passports during outdoor learning.

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • In Maths, we’ve been learning about equations and although we understood about each side balancing, we did find it difficult to find the missing values.
  • We’ve also been practising our joined handwriting and we found it particularly tricky to join an ‘s’ onto other letters.

Our school value award winners for this week are Zaynab and Ava. Congratulations!

Have a lovely weekend!

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • We have really enjoyed making props for our Assembly next week. We are so excited to perform!
  • We have enjoyed starting our new topic in Numeracy. We are working with Time and have liked using the small analogue clocks to help us!
  • We think that we have been working hard on our new writing genre and want to continue this.
  • We are also very proud of our poem readers. This morning they performed in front of the school and were fantastic!
  • We have also all been working really hard in our new reading groups.

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • Although we’ve enjoyed doing Time in Numeracy some of us found this tricky! We want to keep working on it.
  • We also have to keep practising our spelling words. Some of us are forgetting to fill in our tables.

Our school value award winners for this week are Eadie and Blake. Congratulations!

Have a lovely weekend, see you next week.

Seafield Snippets Friday 16th January 2026

This week, many of our P5-7 children took part in Bikeability sessions. They demonstrated super listening skills and progressed successfully through the programme.

The winners of our raffle tickets, Primary 2/3, received their reward this week and enjoyed some additional time outdoors, playing games and demonstrating kindness towards each other.

Many classes, have been taking part in Scottish Country dancing during PE lessons and have learnt a variety of ceilidh dances.

During our Assembly today, we discussed diversity and spoke about celebrating differences. The children identified differences such as appearance, languages spoken, interests and traditions. On Monday, children have been invited to dress down. Children are welcome to celebrate their own identities by wearing items of clothing, outfits that reflect their identity. Some examples may include but are not limited to, brownies uniforms, items of tartan, a sari,  local sports tops. Children have been reminded that League football tops are not permitted.

Next Week:

Monday 19th January Equity and Inclusion – Cultural Awareness Day – children can attend school dress down/cultural dress

Coming Up:

Monday 26th January Parent Council Meeting 5.45pm

Friday 16th January 2026 P2/3

We have had another super week of learning this week, we have been learning about the months of the year, days of the week and seasons and also learning more about Scotland, famous landmarks and traditions.

Tickled Pink

We have been working hard on our literacy tasks this week and have been carrying out different reading  comprehension tasks.

We have been enjoying our Scottish Dancing and can confidently sidestep in both directions with our partner then finish with a set of side kicks.

We were looking at Forth Rail Bridge and had a challenge to create a bridge using lego or kapla that could cross a material river- we then had to test it was strong enough to hold some toy characters.

We can sing the months of the year in order and know the days of the week and months of the year.

We were very proud of our handwriting this week.

We enjoyed listening to The Gruffalo in Scots and using Scots vocabulary.

We learned about Steven Brown and read some of his books about the McCoos

Green for Growth

We have been looking at some famous Scottish landmarks and traditions and have researched them using books and our knowledge to draw and write about them. it is a bit tricky finding exactly what we are looking for in some books.

It was tricky when we were given a month and had to say the name of the month before and after it or to give the previous two months.

We chose our Scots poems which we have to learn to recite, we will do these in class next week and 3 of us will be picked to perform at the whole school assembly.

We were learning about algebra in class it was very tricky.

Primary 6/7 Friday 16th January 2026

What a busy week it’s been in Primary 6/7.   Following our discussion, here’s what we would like to share about our learning this week:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • We really enjoyed our PE this week as it was our last tag rugby session and lots of people scored tries.
  • In Maths we were learning about mixed and improper fractions and we found this fun to do because we now have a good understanding of it.
  • During outdoor learning we went to ‘Bonner’s Bog’ where we enjoyed experimenting with the different textures of ground and using trees and sticks for den building.
  • We enjoyed working on our Famous Scots projects because we were able to choose who to research and in what way to present our findings.  Some of us also further developed our digital skills by choosing Power Points as a way to share what we had researched.
  • We were also  developing our sketching skills when producing a piece of Art about our chosen famous Scottish person.

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • Some of us felt that learning our Scots poems for the recitals in class has been tricky as they contain so many unfamiliar Scots words.
  • We also have a lot of songs to learn for our upcoming Burns Supper so this has been a challenge too.

Our school value award winners for this week are Matthew and Che. Congratulations!

Have a lovely weekend.

Primary 3/4 – Friday 16th January

We have had a fantastic week in Primary 3/4!

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well)

  • This week some of us think that we have been working really hard in Numeracy. We have been learning about two step problems and have been completing these in our jotters.
  • We think that our Assembly is coming together really well. We are still learning our lines and practising our songs but getting better every time!
  • We’ve enjoyed doing our poems this week in Writing. We’ve been creating our own ones and they have been fabulous!
  • We’ve also been enjoying learning about Scottish culture this week. We have created tartan, learned about Robert Burns and learned some Scottish dances!

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • We need to remember to not bring toys in during the week, they are causing distractions. This is only allowed on a Friday.
  • We want to keep displaying our values. We have been focussing on respect in class and want to continue to do this through listening and not talking while others are.

Our value award winners this week for being ambitious is Emma and for being resilient is Leo. Well done!

Have a great weekend everyone, see you on Monday!

Primary 6/7 – Friday 9th January

Happy New Year!

Primary 6/7 have had a wonderful busy first week back after the festive holidays with lots of great learning activities in class. On Friday morning, we discussed our week in school and decided that we would like to share these thoughts about our learning this week:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • We really enjoyed starting our famous Scot projects linked to our Burns theme because it was great to choose our famous Scot and fun to start learning about them and some of us were able to start our art activity to create a portrait of them
  • We really enjoyed our work with equivalent fractions and simplifying fractions in Maths and we felt we got a good understanding of the processes and were then able to successfully complete tasks
  • We also enjoyed our work on writing Scottish poems because we got the chance to consider Scots language and also think about the structure of our poems and the use of rhyming patterns
  • Primary 7s really enjoyed their first online Spanish transition lesson with Miss Cabezudo Rodriguez from Deans High School
  • We really enjoyed our PE lesson with Mrs Robertson as we had lots of fun playing dodgeball and taking part in another fun challenge

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • Some of us felt that getting started on our Scots poems was a little tricky
  • Some of us found it a bit difficult as we made a start to learning our Scots poems for the recitals in class as some of the words were a bit tricky to read and pronounce
  • Some of us found the process for our famous Scots artwork a little tricky and we will continue to work on this next week

Our school value award winners for this week are Matilda and Archie. Congratulations!

Well done P6/7 for a brilliant, busy week. Have a lovely weekend.

Primary 2/3 Friday 9th January 2026

Happy New Year!

We’ve had a great start to the new year in P2/3.

Tickled Pink

  • We learned about compass points and played a Four Corners game where we had to run to the North, South, East or West.
  • We also learned about journeys and giving directions and after learning a strategy to help us with  left and right we gave directions to our peers and directed the Beebots to various places on a map.
  • We learned about what Winter is like in Scotland and this inspired us to write fabulous Winter acrostic poems which we performed for the P1 class.
  • During outdoor learning we went on a Winter Scavenger Hunt and we discussed how our local environment has changed since the Summer.
  • In PE we had lots of fun playing games with the large parachute.

Green for Growth

  • We listened to some Scottish poems and we think its going to be difficult to learn them for the Burns Assembly because some of the words are very tricky.
  • We are going to work on our indoor voices because some of the class are using loud voices since we’ve returned.
  • Some children also think we need to try harder to tidy the classroom at the end of the day.

Our Lead Learners this week were Molly for being Responsible and Freddie for being Ambitious. Well done to both for trying so hard in class!

Friday 19th December 2025 – P2/3

We have had a fantastic week in P2/3 with lots of festive activities and celebrations.

Tickled Pink

  • We had our whole school assembly on Tuesday with Rev Boyd and we enjoyed hearing the brass group playing Jingle Bells, some of them had only been playing for 10 weeks. We also enjoyed seeing P5/6 ‘s video about a modern day twist on the Christmas Story and hearing P6/7 read passages for us. We were able to perform some of our songs from the nativity.
  • We played a festive roll the dice game where we made up different stories using different characters , settings and plot cards, we then wrote our own and read them at story time!
  • We enjoyed our maths challenges identifying different number combinations of gifts in Santa’s sacks. We made it more challenging by increasing the number of gifts and numbers of sacks.
  • We really enjoyed our Festive STEM morning, creating different patterns, zip wire for Santa or a winter wonderland!
  • We really enjoyed doing show and tell on Wednesday morning.
  • We loved our Christmas Party !
  • We loved our trip to the cinema!
  • We had an achievement assembly on Friday morning.

Green for Growth

  • We do need to get better at looking after our class resources when we are doing creative tasks, some pens lost lids and so did some glue sticks.
  • We also need to try and keep our work area clear when we are using STEM materials as there was lots on the floor and it is the same few children who help tidy up.

Have a wonderful festive break everyone and we look forward to seeing you back next year on the 5th of January 2026!
