Primary 6/7 – Friday 7th November

Primary 6/7 have had a great week with lots of enjoyable learning activities in class. On Friday morning, we discussed our week in school and decided that we would like to share these thoughts about our learning this week:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • Lots of us really enjoyed our Art lesson when we were using cotton buds to practise pointillism and we had lots of fun trying different ways of creating artwork using this method
  • We all really enjoyed our buddying with the Primary 1s this week as it was lots of fun making the firework pictures with our buddies
  • We all really enjoyed our second online Mandarin lesson with our teachers from China and we are delighted that we can now count to ten in Mandarin
  • We also really enjoyed our online art lesson with the National Galleries if Scotland on Friday morning as it was great fun to learn how to make sculptures creatively with different materials
  • We are still really enjoying our class novel, “Kofi and the Rap Battle Summer”
  • The children who were taking part in the first Livingston North football event on Friday morning really enjoyed getting the chance to play games against other schools and it was brilliant to represent Seafield Primary School at the event

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • Some of us found our work with scale in Maths a little tricky
  • Some of us found the other Maths work that we were doing this week on place value to be a bit difficult, however, some people also really enjoyed it

Our school value award winners for this week are Kyle and Zac. Congratulations!

Well done for an excellent week, P6/7. Have a lovely weekend.

Friday 7th November 2025 P2/3

We have had a busy week this week with lots of learning going on in the class. We have also welcomed Mrs Page to our school and she has enjoyed visiting our classroom and getting to know us all a bit better at break and lunchtimes. It has been money week and we have been learning about the importance of money, recognising and using different coins and carrying out calculations. We also read a book called,  “No Money Day” and talked about savings and Food Banks.

Tickled Pink

  • We had great fun learning about our skeleton! We were finding out about bones and tried to feel different bones in our body. We then worked together to use masking tape to mark out where some of our bones are.
  • We had good fun in PE working in pairs and talking to each other to complete different challenges. We used hoops to balance between our tummies and had to complete a course and put the hoop on a chair without using our hands.
  • We started listening to our Nativity Songs this week!
  • We came up with some possible ideas for rewards for winning the Honeycomb Playground award – we shared our ideas with Mrs Page and she will make a shortlist of 3. Next week we will vote!

Green for Growth

  • We found money tricky this week and we would all benefit from handling money more, recognising different coins and notes and counting collections of different coins.
  • It was tricky naming the 3D shapes this week. We need more practice.
  • Writing a recount this week was a bit tricky! We wrote either about Halloween or Scare Hunger away and had to use words like….First…. Next….. Then…….After that. It was hard to remember to use these words.

P5/6 – 7.11.25

Tickled Pink

  • We have continued to practice handball in PE, getting ready for the P5 Handball Festival which takes place next Thursday.
  • We have begun to practise for our class assembly which will be on Friday 28th November at 9.15am. Some people have already learned their lines even though they only got them yesterday!
  • For outdoor learning this week, we used our maths skills to measure the area and perimeter of the kick pitch, the park area and the entire school grounds. We used trundle wheels to measure in metres.

Green for Growth

  • We are still working on joining up our handwriting and using cursive more regularly.

Lead learners next week are CJ and Cade.

Primary 3/4 – Friday 7th November

We have had a great week in Primary 3/4! We were all so excited to tell each other what we had been up to over the weekend! Lots of us had some sweeties from Halloween!

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well)

  • In Numeracy, we have been working very hard on our multiplication. This week we focused on multiplying by 10 and 100!
  • On Wednesday, we created firework Art using lots of different coloured chalk! They turned out fantastic and we loved showing our grown ups!
  • In Literacy this week we have been developing our confidence in our new writing genre. Our recounts were great this week and we are feeling better about this!
  • We have enjoyed continuing our new topic. We are learning more and more about Rainforests!

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • We still think that sometimes we forget to turn on our listening ears. Although we have been improving, we want to continue to work on this!
  • We need to try and remember that Mondays are our outdoor learning day so to make sure we bring a change of clothes/ wellies in case we get muddy!
  • We also need to look after our classroom resources more. Some things have been broken or lost so we want to be really careful going forward!

Our value award winners this week for being responsible is Sofia and for being ambitious is Eadie! Well done!

Great work Primary 3/4, see you on Monday!

Seafield Snippets Friday 7th November 2025

It has been a real pleasure to spend my first week as Head Teacher at Seafield getting to know the children. I’ve been so impressed by how they are already demonstrating our school values of ambition, kindness, resilience, respect, and responsibility in all that they do.

I’m very much looking forward to working closely with families and getting to know all the children even better over the coming weeks. I’ll continue to share a weekly update on our school blog and a termly newsletter, which will be emailed out to families.

This week, the children have been sharing with me what they think is the best thing about Seafield — and it has been wonderful to hear their thoughtful and enthusiastic responses!

Next week, we will be focusing on our value of kindness as part of Anti-Bullying Week, exploring how we can all play a part in making Seafield a caring and supportive place for everyone.

Our Health and Well Being Mini Champs have been introducing pupils to our school HWB mascot, Pibble, the capybara. Pibble, has been visiting classrooms and this will continue next week.

Key dates for next week:

  • Monday: Tempest Photography will be in school – please see the previous letter, which will be resent today as a reminder.
  • Wednesday: Mini Champs meetings will be held in school online.
  • Thursday: Handball Festival for P5 pupils. Please see email sent to P5 parents/carers for more information.

Coming Up:

  • Wednesday 19th: Book gifting event for P1-3 pupils @2.30pm in school, parents/carers are welcome to attend and share a book with your child(ren)
  • Monday 17th: Book Week Scotland (events taking place in school)

Thank you for the warm welcome I’ve received so far – it’s been a fantastic start, and I’m excited for all that’s ahead.

Primary 2/3 Friday 31st October

What a busy week we have had in P2-3 which ended with our Seafield Scares Hunger morning which we all found lots of fun!

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • We worked so hard on our creativity skills by having lots of stations to visit during our Seafield Scares Hunger morning. We particularly loved painting ghosts with cotton balls and making cotton bud and paper chain  skeletons.
  • In Maths, we had fun making 2D shapes with playdough and naming them and during outdoor learning we went on a shape hunt.
  • We looked at the Recount genre during our writing time and did some work on time connectives which will help us when we write a recount text next week.

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • When drawing 2D shapes some of the class need to use rulers to help them make better shapes.
  • We learned about alphabetical order and we looked for words in dictionaries,  Some of us need to work on this more,

Many of the children enjoyed dressing up this morning and they are super excited about Halloween. Have a fun weekend everyone!

Primary 6/7 – Friday 31st October

Primary 6/7 have had a wonderful first  week back in school after the October break with lots of great learning activities in class. On Friday morning, we discussed our week in school and decided that we would like to share these thoughts about our learning this week:

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):

  • Lots of us really enjoyed our first online Mandarin lesson this week. We felt that it was really fun and fantastic to meet our Mandarin teachers online for our live lessons from across the world. We also really enjoyed learning about symbols and characters in Mandarin as well as amazing Chinese landmarks
  • We enjoyed our Maths on Friday morning because it was linked to Halloween and not too tricky
  • We were happy about our Seafield Scares Hunger day on Friday as lots of us enjoyed dressing up and we thought it was very important that we had collected food to help people in our community
  • We also really enjoyed our outdoor learning this week as we were making skeletons from branches and other natural objects
  • Many of us enjoyed our work on our class novel, “Kofi and the Rap Battle Summer”, as we learned more about the characters and the year 1994

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • Some of us found the work in Literacy a little difficult as some of the questions about our class novel were a bit tricky
  • Some of us found our break times outside a bit challenging this week as some people were struggling to be responsible in the playground which meant that we needed to have a focus on our school values back in the classroom

Our lead learners for this week were Henry and Isla, who collected the information about how we felt about our learning this week.

Our school value award winners for this week are Noel and Matilda. Congratulations!

Well done for a brilliant week, P6/7. Have a lovely weekend.

Primary 3/4 – Friday 31st October

We have had a lovely week back after our October holidays! We were all excited to be back in our class and loved dressing up today. Some of us were pretty scary!

Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well)

  • We think that we have worked really hard during Numeracy. We have been revisiting our learning from before the holidays.
  • We started a new genre of writing this week. We think that it went really well. Some of us did find this change a bit tricky but we all want to keep working on it!
  • We also started a new topic this week! We are going to start looking at Rainforests and learning all about them!
  • We really enjoyed learning about our skeletons. We stuck masking tape on us to represent our bones!

Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning)

  • Some of us found our Music this week a bit tricky. We had to work on getting our timing perfect to stay in time with the beat of the song.
  • We want to keep working on our handwriting and jotter presentation. This is something we are aiming to improve!

Our value award winners this week for being responsible is Lilidh and for being resilient is Leo! Well done!

Have a great weekend, see you all on Monday!

Seafield Snippets – Friday 17th October 2025

The last week of term has been another busy one!  We’ve taken part in a Harvest assembly with Mrs Boyd, our school chaplain; enjoyed P6/7 class assembly and had our first Achievement Assembly of the year so have spent lots of time together as a school community which has been lovely!  P5/6 and P6/7 had Mrs Boyd visit their classrooms and start to prepare their involvement in the Remembrance Day service which takes place in November.  P6 took part in Xcite Learn to Swim assessments as well.

Thank you to those parents/carers who made appointments and came along to meet with teachers this week to hear all about progress in learning.  It was lovely to hear a positive buzz around the building.

As you will know, the school is now closed to pupils until Tuesday 28th October 2025.  The staff team look forward to welcoming them back refreshed and ready to work hard in Term 2.

The ELC (nursery) remains open to children next week.  If your child is not attending, please contact the nursery to let them know.  Please don’t send a groupcall text or email as these facilities are not available when the school office is closed.

Week beginning 27th October

Monday – Inset day – school closed to pupils; nursery open

Tuesday – School pupils return; ELC parent consultations (sign up sheet in cloakroom)

Wednesday – P4 and P5 family learning session with Mrs Flynn 2.15pm; ELC parent consultations

Primary 6/7 – Friday 17th October 2025

Primary 6/7 has had a very hard working week as they prepared for their class assembly which took place for the whole school on Thursday and which was performed for parents and carers on Friday.

The class did an amazing job with their assembly, putting in such incredible hard work during research, planning and rehearsals for songs and scenes. Some pupils were absent during various rehearsals and performances but everyone stepped up to the mark and was willing to take on extra work and do additional rehearsals to cover for those who weren’t here. Everyone was involved in the assembly and did an incredible job.

We did some amazing learning as a class about some very important issues raised in our first class novel of the year, Divided City. We were also very lucky to have a visit from Nil By Mouth an organisation which tackles sectarianism and promotes acceptance of identity for all people.

The class also did an amazing job with the songs that they chose for assembly and they fitted in so well with the themes and issues which we raised and tackled. It was also very fitting that today was the Show Racism the Red Card day in school, as this fitted in very well with the work that we have been doing.

A massive congratulations to Primary 6/7 for their excellent performances yesterday and today.

Our school value award winners for this week are Isla and Henry. Congratulations!

Have a lovely holiday. We look forward to seeing you back at school on Tuesday 28th October. Take care and stay safe boys and girls.
