Discovery Landing Check In

Good afternoon everyone, I am so sorry for not posting yesterday however my day did not go to plan. Today is a new day and a better day so I am feeling great. How about you?

I have spent the day sorting Lego with my girls. I enjoy building with Legos until I stand on the pieces ‘ouch’.  What do you do that you enjoy, maybe you can post some pictures of the things that you like to do at home?

I’ll leave you with a springtime song;

P3

This week in primary 3 we have been lucky enough to spend each afternoon singing and learning new songs with the Rookie Rockstar’s team. We have all thoroughly enjoyed this experience and working collaboratively with the whole school to record our own CD of the songs we learned. We hope you can all make it to our concert on Thursday where we will be showcasing what we have learned!

We also had a ‘spotacular’ day today dressing up and decorating spotty biscuits to raise money for children in need.

Music

This week in Primary 1-3 we have been singing our friendship song. We moved to the pulse of the music and copied the rhythm of the words. We then made friendship cards to give to others to say thank you for being our friends.

In Primary 4 we listened again to ‘Zadok the Priest’ and discussed the music, focussing on dynamics and tempo. Using their imagination, the children then went on to create a movie that reflected the music.

In Primary 5-7 we were learning about different genres in music. This week we focussed on Reggae music, considering the tempo and of the music and the style. We sang Three Little Birds and found the pulse of the music and copied the rhythms. We discussed the background of Reggae music and considered the main instruments we could hear. The children then designed their own ‘Peace’ signs.
