Primary 4

Primary 4 have had a busy time in January. We have a student witn us for the next 5 weeks and we welcome her into our class. The class have been learning their poems for the Poetry competition and we will be looking for them to perform them next week. Tuesdays have been busy with Outdoor Learrning in Maths with Mrs McCool . So far we have looked at  shapes and are looking at angles and seeing if we can recognise them in the outdoors.

We have started our new topic looking at Scotland and finding out about different Landmarks which we may know. We had a great lesson where we had to see how many places we recognised. Max and his partner recognised the most!

We are working on persuasive writing and we hope to use our knowledge of our Scottish Cities to make a travel guide to persuade you to visit the place! We are working in groups to find out all about the different cities around Scotland.

We will post pictures when we finish!

Book Week in P3

Primary 3 have had an exciting and engaging week during Scottish Book Week. We are all enjoying reading Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and have used this as inspiration for our writing. The children wrote letters to Mr Wonka persuading him to make their own sweet or chocolate invention in his factory. The children carefully considered the structure of their letters along with different examples of persuasive language they could use. Their hard work has definitely payed off and I don’t think Mr Wonka could refuse!

We also worked together to design and create a Charlie and The Chocolate Factory themed door display and were very pleased with the end result!

Our book week came to a great end as we all received our Read Write Count bags. One of the books in the bag was an atlas, therefore the children enjoyed a tasting session of different types of bread from around the world.

Here are what some of the children thought about our book week;

Aiden – “I liked playing the guess the book game best. Sometimes I didn’t even need all three clues.”

Rebecca – “My favourite bread was the French brioche bread, it tasted sweet.”

Lexi – “I liked writing an acrostic poem about reading and getting to share it with everyone at assembly.”

Iona – “I liked getting to do a book personality quiz with my Dad at Biscuits and Blethers.”

Primary 4 Library Corner

Primary 4 are very proud to have been chosen as winners for the middle school in our competition. We are looking forward to heading to Watersons to get books for our library. We worked together to come up with a theme and then everyone took part in making and designing something for the corner. We have favourite book covers, authors names, and sorted the books into different types, fiction and non fiction. We love our corner and enjoy going in and reading our books at DEAR time.

P3 Library Corner

Primary 3’s highlight of the week this week has been designing and creating our very own library corner for our upcoming library corner competition. The class agreed that our library should be an inviting and cosy space to enjoy a book. We drew up plans and gathered our fantastic ideas through discussions before eventually voting on a unicorn theme.

We all loved working cooperatively to bring our ideas to life! Here are some pictures of our new library corner, we love it and couldn’t wait to put it to good use!

P4

This week in Primary 4 we have been very busy planning our Library Corner for the competition which is being judged on Friday morning.

We started by drawing a plan of what we would like our corner to be.  We used our listening and talking skills to discuss what it should look like and what should be on the walls to encourage us to look after it and use it. We then put our ideas onto paper and drew a plan.  We had some super ideas which were then discussed within the class and we made a list of the ones we could do on the board. We then got to work. We all worked cooperatively and made book covers, talked about our favourite authors and books, we made book ends for the shelves and made our own library.  We set it around the theme of the BFG by Roald Dahl which is our new class novel. We hope to add to it to keep it exciting and fun to use!  Today was all about being creative!
