Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Drama

Our main highlight from the past week has been creating and performing a short drama to the class. In groups we were given the task to report on the opening of Willy Wonka’s factory. We had to work collaboratively to assign roles so that each group had a Willy Wonka, interviewer and two news anchors.  All children were absolutely fantastic when performing and spoke with clear loud voices and demonstrated confidence! They were all very supportive of their peers performance and provided excellent feedback which related to our success criteria, speaking loudly and clearly.

In reading we have been working on coming up with questions that start with who, what, when, where, why and how before, during and after reading. As a class we read part of the first voice in Anthony Browne’s ” Voices in the Park” which gave us a lot to think about and question. We then went away and came up with our own questions and then came back as a class to finish the voice and see if our questions were answered.

Primary 6-Blitz Pictures

The highlight of the week in primary 6 was learning how to create their own blitz pictures. In art, the pupils learned how to use colour to create a detailed effect. We used a range of pictures as a stimulus to help us identify what colours we would need to use and how we could create a fire effect. The pupils worked cooperatively to discuss their ideas and came up with a range of different ways the fire could be displayed in the background. We then practiced the skill of blending, using the crayon pastels, to mix the colours together. Primary 6 put so much effort into their artwork and were enthusiastic to show them to others.

P2/3’s STEM Challenge

Primary 2/3’s STEM challenge for the week was to build a tower with only 25 Lego blocks that was strong enough to hold a bottle of water. We worked in teams to draw a blueprint of our design before collecting our Lego pieces. Once built we measured the height of our towers and compared our models with each other. It was then time for the big moment, would our towers hold a bottle of water? There were lots of excited reactions when all groups successfully completed the challenge! Take a look at our designs!

Primary 4/5

P 4/5 have been working on their book corner this week. In Maths, we have been learning to use different strategies in addition.  We had lots of fun mixing sugar icing and decorating our own biscuits.

P3 Library Corner

Primary 3’s highlight of the week this week has been designing and creating our very own library corner for our upcoming library corner competition. The class agreed that our library should be an inviting and cosy space to enjoy a book. We drew up plans and gathered our fantastic ideas through discussions before eventually voting on a unicorn theme.

We all loved working cooperatively to bring our ideas to life! Here are some pictures of our new library corner, we love it and couldn’t wait to put it to good use!
