Welcome back Primary 3!

It has been a fantastic first week back! Our new primary 3s are full of enthusiasm for the year ahead. We have spent some time this week discussing our new school rules ‘Ready, Respect, Safe’ and what they mean to us. The children gave some super examples and enjoyed capturing these on camera to add to our class charter display.

Today the children enjoyed taking part in a STEM challenge to see who could make the longest paper chain using only one piece of paper. The children worked cooperatively within their groups to produce a wide range of sizes of paper chains! We discovered that the longest chains cut the strips of paper thinner, allowing more chains to be made.

Have a lovely weekend!

Well done Alex!

A massive well done to Alex who completed a 1.5k run at Edinburgh Marathon Festival in aid of Crisis, a charity helping homeless people. He completed his run in a very impressive 8 minutes 19 seconds. Alex raised over £2000 for Crisis and we are so proud of all of his hard work fundraising and preparing for his run. Thank you for bringing your medal in to show us all. You are a superstar!

P3’s Discursive Writing

Primary 3 have been learning about discursive writing. We have been exploring different view points and reasons to support these. We practiced using discursive language out in the playground by reading statements and deciding whether we agreed or disagreed. We know that we need to give a reason for our answer and used some fantastic discursive language. We also enjoyed working in pairs to act out having a debate about a given topic.
