P7 Romans Assembly

On Thursday 27th February the school and parents joined P7 for their Romans themed class assembly.  P7 have chosen to learn about life in Rome during the reign of Emperor Nero this term, and decided to showcase their learning by making videos around the theme of popular TV shows.  Pupils did an excellent job at being creative throughout the whole planning, performing and editing process and it was amazing to see their confidence grow as they put their assembly together.  We hope you enjoy watching this extract and invite you to think about whether you think Emperor Nero was a faithful or a traitor? P5 and P5/6 Trip to Dynamic Earth

On Thursday, Primary 5 and Primary 5/6 travelled to Edinburgh to go to Dynamic Earth. We started our day at a workshop learning all about natural disasters and different rocks! We then time travelled back to the Big Bang and learnt all about the planets and space. Next we went to the arctic… we were a bit chilly when we saw the iceberg! Our favourite part was when we took a flight to the Rainforest. We had to wear safety glasses that made everything feel so real!

Forest Fun!

On Monday, our Morning and Full Day children joined us for our first Forest Schools session of 2025. We spoke about the importance of keeping ourselves and others safe whilst out in the local community and ensuring that our Forest is kept clean and tidy after leaving.

The children read a story with Miss Hudson, climbed trees and explored their new forest area with support of staff.

Our Class Mummy

This week P3/4 received another note from our friend Eliass, an Egyptian Archaeologist.
He told us about an Egyptian mummy whose sarcophagus has gone missing in Egypt. Whilst he helps to find it, we have to look after her at Riverside! Eliass had left a trail of hieroglyphs around the school for us to find. We worked together to find them all and crack the secret code.
When we got back to our classroom we couldn’t believe our eyes – a real-life mummy!
“I like her glasses, she must be an Egyptian fashionista!”
We have promised Eliass we will take good care of her during her stay with us and we are excited to decorate her sarcophagus next week.
