Frankie & Benny’s Visit
Primary 5/4 has had a fantastic morning learning how to make tasty and healthy pizzas at Frankie & Benny’s. Unfortunately not so many children took the healthier vegetable option but they had great fun tucking into their pizzas made by their own hands! We would like to thank Frankie & Benny’s for giving us the opportunity to do this and hope the children will start making some of their own healthy pizzas at home. They were all natural chefs! Keep an eye out for pictures of our fun trip that will be added shortly.

Information for Parents and Carers from Education Scotland
Parentzone is a website dedicated to providing parents or carers, with the most up-to-date information about their child’s education. It provides practical advice and ideas of how parents can be involved in their child’s learning, as well as essential information on features of Curriculum for Excellence. The survey will close on 31 August.
If you are a parent or carer of a child aged 3–18 we would be grateful if you would complete our short survey to help us ensure that Parentzone reflects the needs of all parents and carers. The survey should take about 5–10 minutes to complete and all responses are confidential.

Vaccine Information – Measles, Mumps and Rubella
It’s not too late to protect your child against Measles, Mumps and Rubella.
NHS Lothian is running a catch-up campaign for young people aged 10 to 17 years who have not received two doses of MMR vaccine.
Some young people missed out on the MMR vaccination when they were younger. Two doses of the vaccine are required to ensure protection.
Information has been sent to parents and guardians of children who are 10 to 17 years old whose health records show they may not have completed the full course of MMR vaccination. NHS Lothian is encouraging parents and guardians of these children to contact their General Practice to arrange MMR vaccination for their child.

Wonka wonderful Gala Day!
What a wonderful day for a Gala Day! For the first time in a good few years, the sun shone down on us as we made our way around Blackburn with the parade. This year, we chose the theme, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” Congratulations to the Nursery for winning a prize for their lovely, decorated float. Oompa Loompas galore, Willie Wonkas, Veruca Salts, a great range of sweet treets and winning “Golden Tickets” cheered to the crowd as they made their way round. Susan Boyle even said hello to one happy Oompa Loompa before setting off in her car to wave to her fans. Thank you once again to all the parents, children and staff who came along to represent our school. We hope you all had lots of fun!
Tyres for the Playground
Thank you to……
Mr Findlay, Anna and Lara’s dad, who donated huge tractor tyres. We have placed them around our playground and the children are using them as seating areas where they can sit and relax!!
Mrs Stewart, Ryan and Cameron’s mum, who donated a variety of car tyres for our playground. We are hoping to paint these tyres and use them to sit on, jump in or turn them into containers for plants.
