Hi and welcome to P2/1’s first blog post!
Now that we have all our photo permissions you will be seeing us regularly! 🙂
We had a busy last week with Miss Akram and Miss Wyllie. Miss Wyllie was with us for 5 weeks but sadly she had to go back to university! We will all miss her and appreciate all her hard work and input in teaching us! 🙂
We have been learning the sounds r and b this week. We created buzzing bees and beautiful butterflies to help us remember the “b” sounds. We created rabbits, roads and rainbows to help us with our “r” sound. We have also been working hard on our blending so that we can read and write. Ask us what strategy we use to blend! Show us the words:
hat, bat and rat and see if we can show you our strategy to blend the sounds in these words to read 🙂
If your child is a P2 child show us the words: run, hop and bin 🙂
In Numeracy, we have been learning about addition and using the strategy of counting on to understand addition. Show us a + sign and ask us what is called and what it means! 🙂
It was Road Safety week so we were learning how to cross a road safely and what the colours of a traffic light mean.
Thank you for the parents/carers who popped in to see us on Wednesday for the bookbug/Read, Write and Count bags launch and helped us design our own special robots!
Last week Miss Wyllie taught us Gaelic as we have been learning all about Scotland; ask us how to say Hello in Gaelic! 🙂
Have a lovely weekend!
Miss Akram
It has been another busy week in P1 with lots of learning going on.
This week we learned the sound ‘x’. One of our tasks was to look in a dictionary to see what ‘x’ words we could find. There weren’t many but we were still able to find the ‘x’ sound.
We have been doing lots of reinforcement of counting skills and adding using ‘counting on’ in our numeracy sessions.
On Wednesday we invited our parents along to the class to listen to one of the stories from our Bookbug Bags. It was all about a little Robot called Benny and his emergency button! Ask us about the story and we can tell you about the story. A big thank you to all the grown ups who came along to hear the story with us.
As part of Road Safety Week, we learned  about Road Safety on Thursday. We played games with Miss Kerfoot to help us learn about keeping ourselves safe . We used our cutting skills to make our own traffic lights and can talk about what the different colours mean to drivers on the road. We can tell you about safe places to cross the road and how we cross a road safely. We can demonstrate how to cross a road safely when out and about in our community.
Miss Kerfoot, who has been with us for the past 5 weeks has gone back to University. We have enjoyed having her help us learn new things in our classroom and will miss her. Good luck on your adventure Miss Kerfoot!
Remember to get your Nativity tickets next week from the school office next week. There should be an order form in our school bags!
Have a good weekend!
A big thank you to all the parents who were able to come along on Wednesday afternoon to find out all about the Bookbug Bags (P1) and Read, Write, Count Bags (P2 & P3). We had great fun showing you what is in the bags and know you’ll enjoy sharing the stories at home, as well as playing the games, writing stories and counting. It would be a great idea to keep everything in the bag as your teacher may send home some tasks which you will need the books and games to complete. You can also find more activities to try by going to the Parentclub website:Â https://www.parentclub.scot/

It has been fantastic week in P4. Here is some of our news…
Curriculum Areas & Subjects
In maths, we are continuing to learn about time. Some of us have been reading schedules and timetables and others have been matching digital and analogue clock faces.
We have been writing letters to local businesses to ask for kind donations for the school Christmas Fayre. We had to include the correct features of a letter.
Interdisciplinary Learning
We used our counting skills to help us in PE this week because we were doing some Scottish Country Dancing.
Ethos and Life of the school
This week we have been learning about our ‘Collaboration’ value. We have practised our collaboration skills during topic as we work together to prepare for our presentations next week.
Opportunities for Personal Achievement
Well done to Amber, Eve, Zoe, Elsie and Peter for receiving ‘Successful Learner’ Head Teacher’s awards this week. They include great persuasive language in posters about road safety and anti-bullying week.
Well done to Rachael and Melanie for sharing personal sporting achievements during our assembly this morning! Well done to all others who have also made some good sporting achievements as well as boys and girls brigade awards, too!
Have a brilliant weekend!
Primary 4, Miss Calder & Miss Hoey
On Wednesday last week (14th November) P7 went to DYWF event at Ingliston to learn about jobs within the food and farming industry. While we were there:
There were a lot of kind employers and it was an enjoyable experience. It has made many of the P7 pupils think about their future career aspirations.
Thank you to everyone who took part in the Pudsey events for BBC Children in Need.
The P7 Fundraising Team started by promoting the charity by reading the story of Pudsey’s Great Fundraiser to the nursery boys and girls; and P1 – P3.
Throughout the week, the team sold many raffle tickets. Well done to the winner of the raffle, Lewis Walker in P3!
Finally we were delighted to see so many people taking part in dress down in spots day on Friday 16th November. You looked fabulous! It was great to see so many homemade t-shirts!
The turnout at biscuit and blether was fantastic! You helped make our bake sale a great success. The beautiful Pudsey themed cakes were kindly made and decorated by Dot from our School Kitchen.
In total, we raised over £400, which is amazing! Thank you again for all of your donations.
Thursday 22nd November
Photographer will be in school to take individual and family snaps.
