P5 – Friday 15th February 2019

On Wednesday 13th February 2019 P5, P5/4 and P4 performed our Scottish Celebration, we sang lots of different songs including lots of different poems such as “From a Railway Carriage” by Robert louis Stevenson and he also wrote “The Whole Duty of Children” . After we celebrated some of the parents had some tea, coffee, irn bru, short bread and we also announced some of the raffle prize winners, some of the winners were Jordan, Brogan, Emily, Adam, Jamie and Kelsey.

On Tuesday 12th February 2019 Mrs Craig’s bike crew organised a bling your bike contest and we had to decorate it with Scottish things such as tartan, Scottish flags and also some  people even put irn bru and shortbread which was super creative.

Maths

This week in maths we were learning about how multiplication and division are linked together and have been putting them into triangles. And also we have been practicing adding money together.

Health and Wellbeing

In health and wellbeing we have been talking about how much  your top priorities cost and the value of them such as gas to keep your house going, electricity so you can cook/use electronics, food, shelter and clothes.

Literacy

This week in literacy we have been practicing our grammar and we have been looking at the hidden objects and symbols in the picture book called into the forest by Anthony Browne.

This blog post was written by Summer Brookes and Abbie McAllister.

It has been a busy, excellent week in P4 this week.

We learned about the history of Valentine’s Day before writing imaginative Valentine’s stories.

We had lots of fun at our Scottish Celebration evening. We would like to thank everybody who came to watch and support us. We are looking forward to learning all about how much money we have raised during this topic.

Well done to Melanie and Rachael for winning prizes during the Bling your Bike event! Your fancy Scottish bikes looked great!

We have also enjoyed some Valentine’s art with Miss Adam.

Have a lovely long weekend!

Could all P1 children please return their home learning jotters tomorrow (Fri 15th Feb) to allow time for these to be updated for after the February break. Please still return them even if activities are not completed.

A big thank you to everyone who has returned them already today and for the effort you put into your learning activities each week.

Thank you

Big Responsibilities

Well done to Kirsty and Jack who took on the Tech Team responsibilities on Friday at assembly because P6 and P7 were at CAB.

Also to Artemis, Amy-leigh. Kallie-Marie and Jordon for taking on the responsibilities of the JR’s.

You all did a fabulous job! Maybe P5 need to take over more often!

Scottish Celebration Evening

Primary 4 and Primary 5 put on a successful Scottish Celebration last night. They performed songs and poems from several Scottish artists and made their teachers very proud.

The money that they have raised through ticket sales and selling shortbread and Irn Bru will go towards an excursion for all 3 classes. We will have to work together to figure out the amount of money we have made and take into account any expenses before discussing between our classes what we would like to do.

Here are some moments from their evening.

News from Primary 5/4

We’ve had another busy week in Primary 5/4. We have been practicing hard for our Scottish Celebration Evening which is on Wednesday 13th February 6-7pm. We also celebrated the Chinese New Year and did some imaginative writing. We have continued to work on our division.

This week’s raffle prize winner is… Megan!

A big thank you to our student, Miss Stewart who has been working with us for 5 weeks.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Glancy & P5/4

Police Scotland Survey

In 2018, Police Scotland launched their first dedicated Facebook page for young people along with re-designing their digital platforms to ensure information is available when they need it.

At the heart of the design was the voice of young people from throughout Scotland and we used their views to provide information to promote better life choices and help keep them safe.

But did we get it right?

Police Scotland is once again calling on the young people of Scotland to review these resources to ensure we have the appropriate material and platforms.  This will guarantee we improve communication methods, ensuring our information is available and relevant to a modern society in the new and ever changing digital age.

You can access both platforms here:

Youth Hub online:    http://www.scotland.police.uk/youth-hub/

YouthHub Facebook :    https://www.facebook.com/policescotlandyouthhub

and a very short survey is available via Survey Monkey at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/NQYGN5G  to give your thoughts on them.  This is open to young people aged up to 19 years old as well as parents, professionals, etc to provide general comments based on their experience.  Share with friends, family, neighbours – pretty much anybody who will benefit from how Police communicate with young people and what information is available for them.

The survey is open until 31 MARCH 2019 and the feedback will help shape future changes.
