World Book Day Activities to do at home

Good morning on a very snowy world book day. Although we cannot celebrate world book day in school today you can still celebrate it at home with some of the activities from the world book day site.

There are two book shows to watch. The “Biggest Book Show on Earth” is for older readers and there is the “Illustrator extravaganza”.

Nursery and P1 children may enjoy watching a story from the Big little book corner

There are a wide choice of activities to complete at home on the world book day site and you might like to try one of these reading challenges. If you manage to complete the challenge bring it into school and receive a certificate.

Primary 4 Winter Weather Activities Update

Hi Primary 4

I hope you have all enjoyed being off school and have had lots of fun in the snow.  I look forward to hearing all your news when we return to school. I’ve updated the file from this morning and this will hopefully make it easier for some of you to view the activities.

Please can you also learn the Fairtrade song we have been learning in preparation for Friday’s P4 & P5/4 Fairtrade Assembly.

Keep warm and safe

Mrs Glancy

Primary 3 Snow Tasks – update

I hope you’ve had  a fun day Primary 3! Remember to keep safe and warm! I look forward to seeing pictures and hearing all about your adventures back in school.

I have attached the same tasks as this morning, only in a new type of file – just in case anyone tried to access these today and couldn’t. Hopefully everyone has managed.

As an extra, Primary 3 and Primary 3/2 pupils could also be practising our song for our assembly next week! We’ll all have to work twice as hard when we get back to school after not being able to work together for two days.

Stay safe,

Miss Calder

Difficulty accessing files from our blog

Thanks to everyone who let us know that they have been having difficulty accessing files from our blog today.

We think that the problem could be due to Word documents being uploaded.  I’ve asked staff to upload files in PDF format going forward.  In the meantime, please remember that if you do not have Word downloaded on your system at home, your child will be able to download the whole of Microsoft Office for FREE  on up to 5 devices – yes FREE – through Glow.  Not often you can say that nowadays!  So, if you have put off paying a huge amount to buy Office, just look for the icon when you first log in to Glow, on your launch pad and set about downloading it.

If neither of these solve your downloading problems, please let us know.  Thanks to Laura Compton for helping out!

P6 & P7 Dounans Camp Parent Meeting

Dear Parents/ Carers,

The meeting that was going to take place today after school will be rescheduled for a later date.  Thank you to everyone who has returned all the relevant paperwork which will ensure Dounans have all the necessary information required in a timely manner.

There are still some EE2/ Code of Conduct forms that need to be returned in order for me to pass on relevant medical/ dietary information.  Dounans cannot guarantee that they can accommodate these requirements if they do not receive the information at least 2 weeks prior to attending camp. I have already passed on all information I have received, please ensure all forms are returned to school as soon as possible.  Please don’t hesitate to contact the school if you have any queries or concerns regarding this.  Although school is closed today, I have access to the school email and will check it on a regular basis, should anyone need to contact me regarding school camp:

wlmurrayfield-ps@westlothian.org.uk

Final preparations are taking place and Dounans have created a proposed activity programme for our residential trip. Staff will organise evening activities for Monday – Thursday, such as games/ quiz night etc. There will be a disco on Thursday evening, so for this event the children are allowed to bring a special outfit to wear. (We will try to ensure they don’t wear this while hiking up a hill and that they try to keep it clean for Thursday!)

I’ll update you with a new date for this meeting as soon as possible.

Thank you

Mrs Waugh

P7/6 Catch up

Hi Boys and Girls,

Hope everyone is staying safe and having fun in the snow. It’s very cold outside so wrap up warm. I have set up some games on Education City which relate to our class learning-multiplication and money. Have fun and remember to take some photos for me if you have been making any creations in the snow 🙂
