Farewell Mr Richards

Mr Richards, one of our P7-6 teachers is leaving today to take up a new job in Edinburgh.  We are all going to miss him at Murrayfield and we wish him all the best in his new school.  We are looking forward to seeing him when he pops in to visit us.

We have had a busy week, finding out about China and Chinese New Year stories and customs, making decorations and props for our dramatisation of the story of the Rooster, the Dragon and the Centipede.   We performed the drama at our Assembly and were complimented by some of the younger children who really enjoyed it.

We had a few lightbulb moments when we learned our fractions this week and can now place missing fractions on number lines confidently.  There were lots of smiley faces as we burst out of our learning pit!

Our Scottish Ceilidh preparations are coming along really well and we nearly have co-ordinated feet and everyone spinning in the same direction.  It has been a lot of fun and we have had a lot of laughs along the way.

The lure of the snow is making us impatient for the weekend and we can’t wait to get outside to hopefully build a snowman, if there is enough snow.

WINTER READY!

In the unlikely event of school closure, learning will continue through our school Glow Blog.  Let us know you have found our blog by sending us a comment.  You can add a comment (include your name) to this post and we will know you are accessing our Glow Blog.  Don’t hesitate to contact the school if you have any difficulties.

We look forward to hearing from you soon!

P7/6 Big Talk Homework

Please see the details below for Primary 7/6’s BIG TALK task for next Thursday 8th December:

To prepare yourself for the Big Writing task next week, I would like you to talk about (with an adult at home) a story from the news. This can be any story you like and can be about any subject (including sport, world news, local news, etc) and can be looked at online, on television, in newspaper format, etc. I want you to look at the story and to take notes about it because you are going to write about it next week in class using your own words!

Discuss what sort of language is used in the news story, what information is given, how it makes you feel, etc. I look forward to hearing what you came up with next week!

Thanks. Mr Richards, Thursday 1st December 2016.

Primary 7/6 Big Talk Task

To prepare yourself for the Big Writing task to be done in class next week, I would like you to talk about (with an adult at home) at least 5 things you could do much better if you worked really hard and gave more effort. These can include things from your life outside of school as well as in school.

Discuss what effort means to you and if there is anything you can do to improve this in school.

Which parts of your learning do you think you need to give more effort in?

Thanks. Mr Richards, Thursday 24th November 2016.

Primary 7/6 Big Talk Task

Good morning. Please find the details below for our next “Big Talk” task in preparation for our “Big Writing” next week.

In a few weeks it will be Christmas and our TV’s are already full of adverts selling us all sorts of wonderful and amazing things!  I want you to talk about Christmas Adverts on TV with an adult at home and discuss what the advert contains, what sort of language and/or music they use, do they tell you how much the product is? I also want you to discuss what it is you are being asked to buy – is it one thing or lots of things and would you buy it/them? How do these adverts make you feel?

This will prepare you for your Big Writing task where you will create your very own poster advert for a product of your choice.

Thanks. Mr Richards, Thursday 17th November 2016.
