P5/4 news!

Hello and welcome to the latest news from P5/4. This week we have:

* Had a HUGE spelling test involving 75 words. It took us a while but we got there in the end! Mr Richards will let us know the results very soon!

* Thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the Filmhouse in Edinburgh to see a film version of “The Gruffalo’s Child” followed by readings in Scots of “The Gruffalo’s Wean” by the first Scots Scriever Hamish MacDonald, and a reading in Shetland dialect by Edinburgh Makar, Christine De Luca. It was was also screened live on the Glow website and was watched by other primary schools around Scotland!

It was a very enjoyable morning and we had a great time watching the film, hearing the different dialects and asking lots of questions. Well done to all of the children in Primaries 4, 5 & 5/4 who were a credit to the school!

Please enjoy the pictures below and see you again next week for more!

Happy Christmas from P5/4

Hello from everyone in P5/4. We have had a great week this week including a DVD and popcorn treat for topping the points chart for the term across the whole school and yesterday we had a fantastic trip to see Aladdin at the Civic Centre in Livingston. We had a great time and we were a credit to our school with our behaviour and manners! Well done to everyone concerned.

Below are a few pictures from our Christmas Party and we would like to wish all of our friends and family a fantastic Christmas and a Happy New Year when it comes along. Here’s to an exciting 2016! Happy Holidays everybody.

A massive congratulations to everyone at the school for their fantastic efforts for the Christmas Concert. The staff and children did an amazing job getting everything ready and the final result was brilliant. Very proud of my own Primary 5/4 who were excellent and gave it their all!

Well done!

P5/4 news!

Another week whizzes by! This week we have:

* Had our final ocarina lesson from Mrs England and performed a selection of tunes with P4 to Mr Benyon’s P3 class & Mrs Sneddon’s P5 class! We’ll keep practicing on our ocarina’s and prepare some Christmas tunes!!

* Within our topic on Britain we started looking at the capital cities and found some facts about each city which we will present in class soon.

* We had a mild, spicy & hot challenge to do in maths this week and we all did really well. Our learning over the last few weeks has really helped us to become successful learners.

* In spelling, the apples looked at verbs ending in -s, -ed & -ing and the Bananas and Cherries worked on words ending in -le. We think we’ve got the hang of this now!

* We had to solve a really tricky problem during problem solving where we had to work out an answer which was over 200,000!! We managed this together and are rightly proud of our achievement!

See you all next week.
