Another week whizzes by and only a few days left until the Easter Holidays!

This week we have:

  • Been working on our Listening Skills which continue to improve
  • Working hard on mental maths as well as revisiting aspects of time and money – we worked really well as a team
  • Celebrated success with Sophie Carty who won medals for her Irish Dancing and Ellie Chapman who also won medals and a trophy for gymnastics! Well done girls!!
  • Thoroughly enjoyed the bench ball tournament held at Blackburn Community Centre on Wednesday. We put all of our newly learned skills into action and had a great time! Please see some of the photos below.
  • Today sees us raise money for Sport Relief in our Jammy Jog – photos will be posted next week!

On a separate note, Mr Richards would like to thank all the parents who came by yesterday for a chat and a look around the classroom. It was really nice to discuss your children’s learning and continuing successes!

See you all again next week. 🙂

What have P5 been up to?

We are enjoying our topic on Wallace and Bruce and P5 found the Battle of Stirling bridge very interesting. They had to write a letter to their families informing them that they have decided to join Wallace’s cause.

P5 are working on their enterprise. It is a Easter enterprise!!

They had great fun with Mrs. Walker baking and making lovely Easter treats! These will be available from next week. 50p each.

There will also be a Easter Raffle with the chance to win a beautiful Easter Bunny. 20p a ticket or £1 for a strip.

Greetings from P5/4!

Hello from everyone in Primary 5/4! This week we have:

  • Learned how to get through a slalom of cones using our improving hockey skills!
  • Improved greatly on our skills in Bench Ball & we are now much more confident about the festival on Wednesday 16th March.
  • Using a picture and listing adjectives to help us write a story (please see the pictures below of all the words we came up with)
  • Started work on our Topic PowerPoint which we hope to share with the class next week!
  • Problem solving this week – we looked at the 5 steps to problem solving which are (1) Read & Think, (2) Choose A Strategy, (3) Experiment, (4) Consider & (5) Report & Record. This has been challenging but very worthwhile.
  • Huge congratulations to Zac Wilson and his successes in Tae Kwon Do – enjoy his pictures!
  • We had a class presentation on Monday to showcase our Homework Challenges and there was some amazing work produced! Please enjoy the photos below!!

See you next week!

P5/4 News

This week we say goodbye to Mrs Caggiano after 6 weeks in our class. We have really enjoyed having Mrs Caggiano in class and loved doing art, writing, health and well-being and maths with her. We’ll miss you loads and loads and wish you all the best for the future! We hope you like the cards we made you!

This week has been another busy one and we have:

* Learned the rules of bench ball for the Primary 4’s upcoming tournament on Wednesday 16th March at the Community Centre

* Learned about the sugar content of some of our favourite foods in health and well-being

* Used pictures as a stimulus to plan our writing. One of our favourite websites we use is www.literacyshed.com – check it out!

* Masterclasses were held in school on Thursday 3rd March and the children across the school had a great day participating in a number of different activities – well done everyone.

* Finally, P5/4 are incredibly proud of Ellie Chapman & Dean Robertson for participating in the Burns competition which was held at St Kents on Tuesday 1st March. Although they didn’t get through, to stand in front of an audience and judges to perform a song (Ellie) and poem (Dean) is an amazing achievement and speaks volumes about the confidence the children at Murrayfield Primary School are continuing to develop. Well done!

Below you will find some photos from this week. Enjoy and see you again next week!

Special Burns Creative Workshop P5/4

A special early update on our blog this week as we couldn’t wait to share it with you. We received a special visit from Linsay Duncan from the “Drama & Dance” team of the One Day Creative Workshop Group. Linsay taught the classes loads of different things about our very own Rabbie Burns and then both classes put on a performance of their learning to the whole school! We are very proud of the effort the children put in today and we hope you enjoy some of the pictures!
