28.04.2017 – Primary One

We have had a good week with lots of interesting learning going on. We have been measuring things around the classroom with non standard units. We have been practicing our addition skills using the laptops and the smartboard. We have been using large balls to practice throwing and catching during our outdoor PE sessions and completing a skills circuit during our indoor PE session. We learnt about the French impressionist artist Claude Monet and did a great job recreating one of his famous pieces of art.

 

Update from P2/1 superheroes!

This week we have been learning;

  • We were drawing rectangles and squares to make a painting – Cody-leigh
  • We were looking at acrostic poems – Scott
  • We made our own pictograms – Miryn
  • We started our new topic of living things – and we looked at what things are alive and what things aren’t -Peter

24.04.17 Primary One

It has been a busy first week back for the children and has been lovely to hear all of their stories about the holidays. This week we have been:

  • Writing about our holidays to make a class book of Easter stories
  • Learning about number bonds to 10 by playing the games  – Topmarks – hit the button and ICT.com – save the whale
  • Demonstrating balances on the mat with a partner in PE
  • Making things that use electricity out of lego and playdough.
  • Meeting our new teacher Mrs Mackie who came to visit the class for the afternoon

 

This week in P2/1

We have been very busy this first week back! 🙂

We have been learning:

  • I know that a cube has 6 faces – Brydin
  • We have been building towers that had to be as tall as a ruler – Charlie
  • I know a cone has 1 corner and 2 faces – Brydin
  • We have been learning how to make some 3d shapes – Miryn
  • An octagon has 8 sides – Scott
  • A hexagon has 6 sides – Aiva
  • I made a house using a triangular prism and a cube – Melanie
  • We were learning about how we get our energy – Cody-Leigh
  • We need to eat lots of fruits and vegetables – Scott and Macaulay
  • We need to eat yoghurts, bread, milk and lots of water to be healthy – Aiva and Cody- Leigh

This week in P2/1

We have been learning;

We made a learning pit – Oliver

If we get stuck in a learning pit, you can ask a friend to help you out! – Charlie

We were learning about Red Nose day today – Cody-Leigh

I can identify that a pentagon has 5 sides and a hexagon has 6 sides – Peter

You can climb out the learning pit – because there is always a way out – Kian

I know that a trapezium is like a square but smaller and squint – Robert

We have been learning about shapes and how we know which shape is which by looking at their sides – Miryn

We have been learning about different shapes; like we know a octagon is an octagon because we think about an octopus with 8 legs, a hexagon has an x in it just like the number six so thats how we remember what a hexagon is – Melanie

We know that wind helps windmills work and that the windmills make electricity – Peter

Xbox’s need electricity  – Kian

laptops and Tvs need electricity – Charlie

Computers and tvs actually use low energy – Melanie

Cookers use high energy – Peter

3-3-17-Primary 1

This week:

  • We have been learning about fairtrade
  • We have been counting in 2’s
  • We are putting our sounds together to blend our sounds to read words
  • We learned how to skateboard safetly and it was great fun
  • We painted stones for the school garden

24.02.17 Primary one

  • This week we have been trying hard to do good listening. We have a listening song that helps us.
  • In our number work we have been making 5 with our adding
  • We have been writing about reading books
  • In outdoor PE we learned some new playground games
  • In indoor PE learned about Scottish words in a fun game.

P1 have been busy learning!

Last week we welcomed some new children into our P1 class. We got to sit in new groups and chose names for the groups. We chose :-

the elephants, the pandas, the turtles and the bears.

We made a class book about how wonderful and different we all are.

We were learning about the black sounds in the Vowel house.

We made paper hugs.

We learned about money.

We got new toys in the classroom.
