P6 News

We have been loving the snow this week and have made sure to go out and have fun.

The children showed great team work in building Bob our snowman and we had some problem solving to do as well.

We found that Mrs. Sneddon (with the help of some children) were strong enough to lift Bob’s torso onto his bottom half. Who knew compacted snow can be so heavy.

Due to the snowy weather on Tuesday we had to postpone our visit to Sky Academy.  We will let you know as soon as possible when Sky can accommodate us .

Mrs Sneddon and the ladies in the nursery are supper proud of the wonderful reading P6 did with the nursery boys and girls for the Big Bedtime Read.

P6

We have been working really hard this week on our decimals and decimal fractions this week and the children are all very engaged in this work.

P6 had PE with Mrs Logan this week focusing on fitness. She was very impressed with P6’s endurance and participation.

We are currently working with P5 on our next assembly. We would like to invite one and all to come and celebrate with us on Friday 15th December 2017.

Have a great weekend.

P6 this week.

This week we have been working hard on fractions of whole numbers. The learners in P6 showed excellent perseverance during their tasks and this lead to some great  collaborative work.

We are becoming more confident when discussing our learning during group times, a small step towards becoming independent and confident learners.

Our second week of Tobacco workshop saw the children giving fantastic feedback of knowledge gained. They enjoyed sharing their views about smoking and the dangers that it causes.

P6 have formed their own clans through doing research on clan life during the Highland clearances. We are all very excited about being part of these clans and will be taking our roles very seriously.

P6

This week in P6 we have explored fractions. It was great fun and tricky too. We can represent fractions in different ways and will attempt to write proper and improper fractions.

We were so excited about the Halloween party on Thursday that we wrote a postcard informing someone of our excitement and plans.

We had the opportunity to finish off our art pieces through comparing artists from different Islands. We looked at the work of Steven Brown (our Island) and the art work of Reina Cottier (New-Zealand ). Our New Zealand inspired art  are all Mauri and ocean inspired.

We also played a game of Bench ball with Mrs McGlynn during our indoor PE slot this week.

We are hoping to start with Scottish Country dancing next, so remember those dancing shoes!

We have also started on our Desperate Journey to find out more about Highland Clearances for this terms topic.

Have a great weekend!

A Diwali inspired week with Rangoli’s, diyas and much more.

A big thank you to all the parents who took the time to come and see our assembly. The children worked very hard in preparing for this and I can say it payed off! Well done P6 for an excellent assembly.

Another thank you to everyone who came to parents night. It was lovely to see you and discuss your wonderful children.

P6 would like to wish everyone a lovey October break and we will see you all back on Tuesday 24th October.

Busy P6

What a busy week in P6 this week!

We managed to get our McCoo’s up and they look absolutely fantastic! A big well done to all the children for their perseverance and hard work with their art work – it has definitely paid of.

Looking at all things “Islandy” we did a comparison between our lovely Island the UK and New Zealand. We explored famous landmarks around the UK and looked at compiling a list of things to do when visiting our Island.

The Children have worked hard in creating their own Islands through drawing maps, making sure they included sustainable sources of energy, harbors, lighthouses and a compass rose off course.

Bike ability has been a phenomenal success and everyone participated enthusiastically!
