We were learning numbers to 100 – Eva

We were reading Come on Margo – Robbie

We were reading Look at Me about Chip on his bike – Macaulay

We are reading The Magic Finger by Roald Dahl – Leyla

We were reading A New Dog – Eva

We were working out money problems – William

We were writing a story start about arriving in Egypt – Brooke

We were reading books about Egypt for our Topic – Charlie

We were making Egyptian necklaces – Kenzie

We were making Egyptian bracelets – Eva

Some of us are making a giant sarcophagus – Macaulay

The circles were doing maths up to 1000 – Cameron

We were learning about tens and units – Charlie

We were revising the ch, sh, th and wh sounds – Leyla

The whole school were exercising with Mrs Logan yesterday – Macaulay

What have we been learning this week?

We have been learning about money. We were doing word problems – William

We were playing money bingo – Rhian

We were designing a sarcophagus (Egyptian coffin) – Leyla

We were counting up to 100 – Macaualay

We were learning about tens and units (place value) – Charlie

The circles were doing numbers up to 1000 – Cameron

We have been reading and answering comprehension questions – Sophia & William

Some of us were making Egyptian collar necklaces – Rhian

We learned that the jars that stored the organs are called Canopic Jars – Robbie

We were learning the spelling patterns of ir, er, ur – William

We were learning the wh sound – Kenzie

We were learning how to play volleyball – Macaulay and Cameron

Some of us were with Mrs Logan doing the Fizzy programme – Brooke

Yesterday we were learning about Robert Burns – William

On Burns Night you eat haggis, neeps and tatties – Cameron

We coloured in pictures of either the red rose, the mouse or Robert Burns – William and Kenzie

We were writing fairy tales this week – Robbie

We were discussing about what makes us happy and sad in the playground with Mrs McGlynn and drawing pictures – William and Eva

Kaylin is taking part in the Parasports event in Livingston next Wednesday – WE WISH HER ALL THE BEST, and hope she wins a medal 🙂

What have we been learning this week?

We’ve been learning lots of facts about the Egyptians – Leyla

Once a person died, the Egyptians removed all their organs except their heart and fed their brain to animals – Leyla

They made bricks from the mud of the Nile to build their houses – Noah

They made paper from papyrus reeds – Eva

The Egyptians lived near the river Nile to survive – Charlie

The rich people had beds, the poor people slept on the floor or the roof of their houses – Leyla

The slaves did not get paid in money, but food – Lewis

If you unwrapped a mummy, the bandages would be 1.6km long – Cameron & Brooke

It took them 20 years to build the Great Pyramid – Rhian

We have been learning about money – counting coins up to £5.00

We did maths code breakers – Cameron

We were adding 3 numbers to find the answer – William

We were doing addition within 20 colouring sheets with a Christmas theme – Jase

We were doing word searches – Jase

We were adding within 20 using a number line – Charlie

We were writing the missing numbers up to 50 – Lucy

We were working out 2 addition sums and 2 subtraction sums with 3 numbers – Brooke

We decorated bobbles with glitter and Xmas trees – William

We made the paper chains to decorate the classroom – Julia

We were learning the Christmas Story from Mrs McGlynn – William

We have been delivering the Xmas post – William

We were sequencing in 2, 3,5 and 10 – Cameron

The circles did a Speed Test with 50 questions – with addition and subtraction – William

What have been learning this week?

We were writing letters to Rudolph – Macaulay

We were writing to Santa – Kenzie

We were telling Santa Sat Navs breakdown and to use Rudolph to guide his sleigh!!

We were adding numbers to 20 – Eva

We were doing chimney sums – Jay James

We were doing chimney sums with hundreds, tens and units – William

We were busy making Reindeer Noses for the Christmas Fair – Sophia

We also made little snowmen wearing ear muffs – Sophie

We also decorated dishes for the candles – Rhian

We had a Special Treat on Thursday from Limelight – doing singing with drums and guitar – William

The primary 3s have been practising our Christmas Songs – William

The primary 2s have been practising our Nativity songs – Eva

We have been practising our Nativity songs (P2s) – Macaulay

We have been singing Rocking Around the Christmas Tree and Merry Christmas Everyone (P3s) – Leyla

We have been counting with money – Rhian

We were doing Guided Reading – William

We were learning about Essential Needs for Paddington Bear – Lewis ( as part of our RRS learning)

Our new class mascot is called SPIKE – he is a friendly blue monkey (photos to follow!)

This weeks Head Teachers Award was for excellent writing for Brooke Barton.

We were playing a yoga game and striking yoga poses – Jay James

We were learning dance moves with Kayleigh on Wednesday – Macaulay
