P1W

Wow!! What a quick week!  This week we have been learning:

Listening skills:

  • We have been working hard to improve our listening this week. Some of us have even made it onto the ‘good listener’ board.  We worked together as a team to make a chart for our classroom to track how many miles we have walked since January.  We try to go out for our ‘daily mile’ as many times a week as the weather permits.

Literacy:

  • reading activities this week have included keyword bingo, tricky words snakes and ladders, crocodile silly sentences and mixed up sentence sort.  Well done to Riley and McKenzii who got themselves a head teachers award for working independently during literacy activities, they both wrote the title and presented their work neatly.

Numeracy

  • number stories to make 5. We used cotton buds and paint to make dot patterns of numbers that go together to make 5. We also coloured in fish and cut them out to stick onto fish bowls.  We had to show a number story of 5 using our fish

P1W learning this week

  • reading – we were practising writing our story book using our own words. This was very tricky.   Amber wrote – Everyone got in the car.  The car got stuck. The kids had to push the car.   Kenzie – my group played bingo to practice our key words.
  • Number – we have learned to add zero to a number and we have been counting down from 20 using a dance to help us remember.
  • 1980’s – We are trying to learn some hand clapping songs from the 1980’s………this is proving to be really tricky!

P1W and the new term!

We are already well underway with our learning for term 2.  This week:

Numeracy:

  • we have been counting to 20 forwards and backwards
  • identifying numbers before and after within 10
  • adding 1 more and 2 more and counting how many we have
  • practising writing numbers to 10 using numicon and number lines to help us

Literacy:

  • we have been playing games in the class to help us learn the character names such as Floppy, Biff , Mum etc
  • we played bingo to help us match the name of the character to the person
  • we have een practising spelling the character names using our magnetic letters.

Achievements:

  • This week we clebrated Riley achieveing a Head Teacher Award for being a confident climber in gym with Mrs Logan. Well done Riley!!
  • McKenzii has been working hard to write his name at the top of his work!
  • Ethan and Jase worked well together as a team to problem solve our letter puzzle – they were this weeks skillionaires for applying problem solving skills to their learning. Well done boys!

P2/1 – What are we up to?

Hello!!

We have been extremely busy this term and its only just started. We have been settling back in to our newly painted classroom.  It is looking super smart and very clean and tidy. (for just now!!!) We have received an exciting email from KG2F from Abu Dhabi, it had a powerpoint introducing themsleves and their school.  We worked hard to send an email back introducing oursleves and our school.  We have started our new topic of houses and homes.  We enjoyed producing black line drawings of our houses to include detail of bricks, windows, doors and stones.
