This week we have been learning about patterns.
LI
We are learning to recognise a colour pattern
We are learning to copy and continue a colour pattern
We are learning to create a colour pattern
We had a lot of fun exploring patterns!
Over the last few weeks, Primary 1 have been learning all about our six School Values. We talked together in pairs and in groups, and shared our ideas about each one. At the moment, we are particularly interested in what it means to be Enthusiastic, and we have shown lots of enthusiasm for our learning each day. As we have all settled down together, we have started to make new friends and demonstrated what it means to be friendly and inclusive too . We will continue to talk about and demonstrate our School Values on a regular basis.
We have also talked about the Rights of the Child, and made links to our School Values.
Last week we put all this together and created our Community Contract. Each balloon contains something that the Primary 1 children think is important for us to demonstrate in and around the classroom. We are earning lots of Dojo points as we remember to use our Community Contract! Well Done Primary 1.
Primary 7/6 have been thinking about the UN Convention on the Rights of a Child and how we can respect these rights in school. As a class we discussed the Rights of a Child and looked at each article, deciding upon what article’s we would respect within the classroom and what we would do to respect them. As we are reading ‘The World’s Worst Children’ at the moment, we decided that this would be the theme of our class charter. We have also been discussing how our school values link to our class charter. The children all designed their own ‘World’s Worst Children’….Gusty Gail, Taco Tim, Itchy Izzy and Debbie Dragon Girl, to name but a few!! We have all signed this to show that we will work together to build and maintain a great community over the coming year.
This week in the nursery we have been discussing our nursery charter. The children worked in their small groups with their adult to decide on what they would like to feel like in the nursery and the things that make them happy. They decided that being kind, sharing, helping each other and listening to each other were important if we were going to play, learn and be safe. The children then decorated a kind hand and spoke about what they used their kind hands for.
“My kind hands will always be kind.” Amelia-Jo
“My kind hands give love to everybody that wants to go to the park.” Hannah
“My kind hands share.” Erin
“My hands are kind to people who are sad.” Lola
We took these ideas and put them in to our charter and we think it’s looking great!
A big thank-you to the parents/carers who were able to attend our Meet the Teacher evening last night. For those who were unable to attend, please find our Term 1 Learning Letter attached to this blog post. This details some of the curricular information for Primary 7 this term and focus for both Literacy and Numeracy.
As our IDL context for learning this term is World War 2, if there are any family artifacts or stories which the pupils would like to share, please feel free to bring these into school. This is a fantastic way for the children to share some of their family history and to further develop their talking skills.
Many thanks for your continued support,
Mrs Ross

Primary 6 have been thinking about the UN Convention on the Rights of a Child and how we can respect these rights in school. We have also been discussing how our school values link to this. We have created a Community Charter that reflects our rights and values. We have all signed this to show that we will work together to build and maintain a great community over the coming year.
After settling in well to routines of Primary 7, we focused on creating our class charter, incorporating the UNICEF articles for the Rights of the Child. We examined the articles and decided how to incorporate them into our every day class experiences for successful learning. We have now all signed and agreed to this charter and we will use it consistently throughout the year to remind ourselves of Primary 7 expectations.

Primary 3 have enjoyed working together to create a class charter. We looked at the school values and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child to decide how we would like our class to be. We brainstormed some ideas for a class charter theme and came up with Candy land. We each had to sign a jelly bean to say that we agree to follow the class charter. We hope you like our Candy lollipops!
