At our house meetings this week, we started off by taking part in community builders. We were then set the challenge to create a mascot for our house.

Linhouse PJ Party!
Congratulations to Linhouse who won the House Cup in Term 1.
The pupils and staff of Linhouse joined together for a PJ party today organised by Jamie and Freya. The party  included  corners, games, dancing and lots of yummy food. A big well done to the house captain, vice captain and all the Primary 7s who helped to organise and run the party.
Well done Linhouse!
House Meeting 1
On Friday we had our first House Meeting of the term. This was a chance for us to meet up with everyone in our house and welcome the new P1s. The House and Vice Captains set a task for us to look at the new school motto: Believe, Achieve and You’ll Succeed and what this would look like and sound like in our school. We are designing shields to display around the school.

House Meeting: BYOD and Internet Safety
Last week we had our first House meeting of 2016 and the House and Vice Captains decided the focus should be on Anytime Anywhere Learning (AAL), Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and internet safety, as these are currently hot topics of conversations in our school.
As usual we started the meeting going over the plan for the meeting and expectations. Then the house members took part in a community builder. The House and Vice Captains showed us a video about internet safety as it is Internet Safety Day soon.
This led on to telling us about Bring Your Own Device, this is something the Technical Troopers and Pupil Council are leading. We had to create a post-it pledge to show how we would follow our school values of responsible and respectful if we became a BYOD school. The House and Vice Captains have taken these post-its and created a school crest.
Thank you to the House and Vice Captains, and P7s for organising such an interesting house meeting.

House Meeting 2
Today we had our second house meeting which had a focus on our playground. First of all the vice and house captains shared with us our house logos and slogans and also the values that our house thought were the most important:
- Almondell:Â Friendly & Enthusiastic
- Cunnigar: Friendly & Inclusive
- Linhouse: Friendly & Enthusiastic
- Calderwood:Â Enthusiastic & Successful
The vice and house captains taught us a new community builder called; elephants, monkeys, helicopters and palm trees. They were taught how to play this game at peer mediator training.
Next we discussed the importance of being safe in the playground and why we need to create a playground charter. We got into groups and discussed what we should have in our playground charter, and the house and vice captains will take this information to make a school playground charter.
Thank you to our house and vice captains for organising the house meeting, and to the P7s for organising the groups.
House Challenge
At our first house meetings last week, the captains and vice-captains set the challenge of creating a logo and slogan for their house. The captains and vice-captains looked at all the ideas and created a logo and slogan, see the winning designs below.
