Peggy’s Adventures
Today, we had a surprise visit from Mrs Mitchell, who is the PE teacher in the school.
We ran some races – we were too fast for the camera! Peggy needs some exercise too so we made sure she joined in. We had great fun with the parachute.
We have a new teacher. Anya has decided that today, she is Miss Cotter 🙂
Peggy’s First Day
Today, the Nursery were joined by a new pupil. She is called Peggy. We fitted her out in a school uniform as she is nearly ready for Primary 1. We wrote some story books, played some Maths matching games and started building a Den for Peggy. She is a bit different from Peggy at the Five Sisters Zoo….
Nursery Bear Theme
The children in the Nursery are still being inspired by their visit to the Five Sisters Zoo last week. They really enjoyed meeting Peggy the brown bear. We have planned activities around the theme of Bears and Teddies and will perhaps have a Teddy Bears picnic later in the week.
It looks like there may be some Bears Dens appearing in the Nursery garden too. Watch this space.
Meeting our Buddies
Today the Primary 6 pupils met their new buddy from the nursery. They told each other a bit about themselves, read them a story and helped them to make a card.
Gala Day
A big thank you to all the children, parents and staff who turned up on Saturday (despite the weather) to represent our school at the Mid Calder Gala Day.
Celebrating 100 Years of Mid Calder Gala
Nursery to Primary 7 have been working on a mini learning context about Mid Calder, as they are celebrating their 100th year of Gala Days this year. Classes have been taking part in lots of different activities from walks through the village to orienteering, map reading to investigating the history of Mid Calder. Each class produced a photo frame of their learning, photos of the frames will be displayed at the front of the school on Gala Day and the Gala committee will display the frames in the village.
Click here to listen to the Nursery pupils sing a song they made about Lizzie Bryce.
Nursery Newsletter – April
Dear Parent/Carer,
It is a delight being the morning nursery teacher over the past few weeks. We welcome new staff to the nursery and look forward to our end of term events and assemblies as an opportunity for you to get to know the nursery staff team. Our children are busy rehearsing for their assemblies and I thank you for your support to practice lines and songs. I bet you know the words to our jungle songs by heart!
Mrs McNamee will be returning to the nursery on Tuesday 19th May until Tuesday 16th June.
