P4 Benchball Festival East Calder Sports Centre 9th March 2016
All the P4s in Mid Calder Primary had an amazing time today at the West Lothian Schools Benchball Festival. We had six different teams who played children from Kirknewton Primary and Woodmuir Primary as well as teams from our own school.
Everyone showed great team working skills as well as super throwing and passing.
A great time was had by everyone!
Sportshall Athletics
On Thursday 25th February 2016 some P7 pupils were selected to represent Mid Calder Primary in the East Regional Final of Athletics. Â The events included track and field events and took place at Meadowbank Leisure Centre. Â We had a great experience and were very tired by the end of it! Â Every pupil that took part was given a certificate to keep as a memory of the event. Â Well done to all the P.7’s for helping us qualify for this event. Â We hope next years P.7’s can qualify as well!
Primary 5 Handball Festival
Today, our Primary 5 pupils headed to East Calder Sports Center to demonstrate their handball skills against other schools in our cluster. P5 did a fantastic job representing Mid Calder Primary, demonstrating all of our school values as well as great sportsmanship, team work, communication skills and motivation to achieve. Well done Primary 5!
Term 2: Achievement Assembly
On Friday we had our second Achievement Assembly of this session. Each class nominated one pupil to receive the Achievement Award for their class and parents and carers were invited along to watch the assembly.
We also gave out Star Writer Awards, Top Scorer prizes and announced the winning house for the term.
Well done who everyone who received an award!
Sportshall Festival
Congratulations to our Primary 7 pupils who recently won the Cluster Sportshall Festival! They will be invited to the regional finals in the new year.
P7 Sports Festival
This week all the P7’s took part in the annual Sports Festival at East Calder Sports Centre. Over the past few weeks we have been practicing the skills involved in the various activities with Mrs Mitchell. The activities that we took part in at the festival were the javelin, time 2 lap-run, speed bounce and standing long, which we were scored in. There were also another 2 activities, one to test our endurance and one to test our balance. All P7’s who participated gave 100% and did extremely well on the day. Hopefully we will get the results soon. P7 hope everyone has a fantastic and safe holiday. See you all soonÂ
West Lothian Cross Country Event
Term 4 Achievement Awards
Yesterday we had our Achievement Assembly for Term 4. Each class nominated one pupil to receive the Achievement Award for their class. Parents and carers were invited along to watch the assembly.
We also gave out Star Writer Awards, Top Scorer prizes, sporting trophies and announced the winning house for the term. The school was also awarded a certificate for our continued support for the Smoke Free Home and Zones project.
Well done who everyone who received an award!
Football Team win the Gala Cup
This evening boys from Primary 6 and 7 were selected to play in a school football tournament as part of the Gala celebrations. The boys successfully defeated East Calder Primary and Parkhead Primary, winning the final against Parkhead Primary.
A big thank you to Mr Porter and Cameron Martin for coaching the team, and to everyone who showed up to support the team. Congratulations boys!
