A Community Partnership

We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Fauldhouse Community Development Trust who have kindly offered such wonderful opportunities for our learners. The children experienced a lesson with a football coach and a chance to take part in a Little Chefs cooking class.

The children learned how to make pancakes, it was great fun although eating them was even better!

P6/5 World War 2 Artwork

This week P6/5 have been looking into Evacuation during World War 2. After writing evacuation letters we used tea staining to make them look like they were written in 1940.
We used our Longridge toolkit creative skills to try different techniques such as dipping, dabbing and dripping, and different resources such as cotton pads, the tea bags and sponges to create different textures and appearance.
The pupils had a great time showing off their artistic skills and have all produced brilliant artwork.

‘Achieving’ a Growth Mindset

P7/6 were working on the wellbeing indicator ‘Achieving’ this week. We had a really interesting discussion together about our thoughts on Growth Mindset and how it links to our opinions about our achievements. We learned about the power of ‘yet’ and the difference having a Growth Mindset can make to our learning. We also set ourselves some targets which having a Growth Mindset will help us achieve. We may not be experts ‘yet’, but we are certainly working on it!

Celebration Assembly

It has been a pleasure to have our first Celebration Assembly of the school year and what a talent bunch of learners we have here at Longridge Primary.

First up were our very special Head Teacher Awards, these children were nominated by their class teachers to receive awards and were invited enjoy a hot chocolate with Mr McNaughton & Mrs Murray.

Next we had our wider achievement awards. Thank you to the parents and carers who completed the form to let us know about these wonderful achievements, we had awards for effort and achievement in horse riding, dancing, swimming and football as well as talents in music amongst other amazing achievements!

Next our golden coins were awarded to two learners. Our P6 learner was awarded this for promoting a love for reading and our P2 learner was awarded this for progress in writing! They enjoyed spending their golden on a book of their choice at our vending machine.

Finally our monthly Languagenut Champions were awarded their certificates.

Congratulations to all of our learners on another wonderful week at Longridge Primary and an extra special well done to our award winners!

P3/2 and P4 are focusing on gymnastics this term in PE. This week we were practising our balancing skills. The pupils showed perseverance when trying different balances and kindness when helping others to try new balances.
