During Collaboration Hour the nursery and P2/1 class learned about the celebration of Lunar New Year that is coming up soon in Chinese culture. Nursery and P1 children enjoyed a range of options including costume-play, dancing, sensory exploration, traditional games and woodworking their own dragons! P2 children researched some key elements of this celebration, and used their presentation skills to teach the younger children what they learned. All children had the chance to enjoy some healthy snacks related to the event, with several children discovering a new taste they enjoyed!

Maths this week has given children lots of opportunities to apply their new skills in subtraction. We have used counting objects, number lines, dice games, online robot-matching games and outdoor experiences. P2 children are learning to use number lines and 100 squares to solve subtraction challenges up to 100, while P1 children are working on challenges up to 30.

P7/6 had a visit from Ms Baty from the West Lothian Digital Learning Team this week to help us begin profiling our achievements and goals on ‘My World of Work’. We can use this platform through our GLOW accounts to help us keep a record of our achievements in different curricular areas as well as wider achievements we have accomplished outside of school. We aim to add to and update this regularly to build a picture of our skills and targets.

P3/2 and P4 have been learning how to play Benchball. Over the past weeks, they have been developing throwing, passing and movement techniques. Today they applied what they had learned and played their first game of Benchball. It was great to see both classes communicating and collaborating in their teams, as well as the sportsmanship from others.

Thank you to the families who joined us for our Burns Celebration. We have continued the celebrations into this week with recitals of A Dug, A Dug in assembly. Well done to all of our very talents pupils for showing courage when performing to an audience.
