Numeracy in P4

P4 have been learning multiplication this term. We have been practising different methods to help us work out multiplication questions. This week we focused on grouping using cubes and practising our repeated addition. We used our critical thinking skills to decide how we wanted to group them and used our repeated addition to find the answers. We used our communication skills to share our learning with the class.

P6/5 Interest Stations

This week in P6/5 we began our new block of Interest Stations. We used our critical thinking and creativity skills to create different animals and characters.

One group practiced their fondant modelling skills, whilst another practiced using their hands and tools to create models using air dry clay.

We can’t wait to improve these skills next week!

PE with P3/2 and P4

On our Tuesday in PE, P3/2 and P4 will be learning how to play tennis. We talked about the equipment we use in tennis and how to be safe with them. This week, we focused on our balance and ball control, trying to balance the ball on our racket while racing.

On Thursday in PE this term we will be learning how to play benchball. This week we focused on our throwing and catching skills, practising our over head throw and chest pass. We used our communication and collaboration skills to pass the ball within our groups.

P2/1 Art

Happy New Year! P2/1 have settled in very quickly to this new term and got straight back to their learning and play. Children spent time this week creating lovely artworks of their families and homes. They combined a variety of different art techniques including oil pastels, watercolours, collage and coloured pencil. Children thought carefully about the shape and style of walls, windows and doors to best represent their home, and produced artwork that really demonstrates just how unique and special the children’s homes and families are in real life!

P6/5

This week we have started to look at information reports in writing. This has encouraged the children in O6/5 to do their own research on different topics that they are interested in. They have used their critical thinking skills to choose what to research, identify the key facts and organise their ideas.
