Cake Decorating Club

Look at these beautiful cupcakes our pupils created at their first cupcake decorating after school club. We are really excited to see how their skills develop over the next few weeks.

Anti-Bullying Assembly

Our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors and Health and Well-being Mini Champs have worked alongside Mrs McLaren, Mrs Murray and Miss Smith to update our school Anti-Bullying Policy. This morning the HWB Mini Champs shared the policy and strategy with pupils and parents. We then had the pleasure of watching ‘Hope’, a production all about bullying which shared a very important message on how bullying can impact your life, why someone may be a bully and the importance of telling a trusted adult if you are or know anyone who is being bullied.

P3/2 RME

This week we have been learning about the story of David and Goliath. In this story David showed perseverance and courage – two of our school values. We discussed ways we display these values and then worked collaboratively to sequence the story of David and Goliath. We then designed pebbles which are used in the story and wrote some positive words on them.

Police Speed Checks

Our Junior Road Safety Officers and Rights Respecting Schools Steering Group worked with local policemen to carry out speed checks on Main Street with a view to assessing how safe the roads are around our school.

This was a really interesting exercise and the children were disappointed to find some drivers speeding. This has provided us with useful evidence as we begin to plan how to improve this in order to keep our pupils safe.

Wellbeing Ambassadors

Introducing our new Wellbeing Ambassadors. Our participatory budget was spent on a Wellbeing Training Program for children. We have had a great afternoon learning the Five Ways to Wellbeing and look forward to planning ways to teach the rest of the school about this.

We learned the importance of being active to improve our wellbeing.

We enjoyed some mediation and a hot drink to calm our brain and to take notice of how we feel.

We practised gratitude.

We helped to shape the role of Wellbeing Ambassadors at Longridge Primary School.
