POP!

Our extra curricular opportunities started this week with our first science club. In our first experiment, we created a chemical reaction which produced a gas, causing the test tube lid to pop right off!

Afterwards we learned about the science of bubbles. We had so much fun creating giant bubbles!

We were able to do some cool tricks with bubbles. Have you ever seen bubbles inside other bubbles? Did you know you can put your hand inside a bubble without popping it? You’ll have to ask our little scientists how it’s done!

P2/1 and P7/6 collaborative PE

The oldest and youngest pupils at Longridge enjoyed the chance to learn together during an outdoor PE session. They were challenged to make up new playground games with a spooky theme. Children showed lots of great creativity in their ideas, and we saw competitive and fun games involving zombies, skeletons, ghosts, wolves and lava. There were fantastic communication skills developed as children explained the rules to their games and gave each other feedback using a star and a wish.

P7/6 Kids Gone Wild!

P7/6 loved their second outdoor learning session with Rob (and Jax!) from Kids Gone Wild. We developed our independence and problem solving skills when building a zip line and setting up hammocks. We are developing our teamworking skills and showed this when working with a partner in the bouncy net. We are also learning about assessing risk and challenging ourselves in ways we feel comfortable while staying safe.

Fire Service Visit

Our school were visited by the fire service to discuss fire safety and safety on Bonfire Night. We then got to go out and have a look at the fire truck. We learned lots of important things and had a lot of fun inside the fire truck.

French in P2/1

The children are ‘tres bien’ at speaking French in P2/1! This week Camenbear visited our classroom to help us learn how to chat to people we meet. Everybody had fun bringing lots of soft-toy friends on a make-believe aeroplane, and Pilot Camenbear flew us to France to practice our new words and phrases! We said ‘Bonjour’ and ‘comment ca va?’ to friends we met, and they answered with ‘bien merci!’ or ‘ca va mal’ before everyone said ‘au revoir’ and got back on the plane home to Longridge.
