P3.2 Writing

On Wednesday, the whole school enjoyed a trip to Aberdour Beach. We had lots of fun playing in the sand, building sandcastles and playing in the water. Today, during our writing lesson we described our time at the beach using adjectives, describing bubble and our 5 senses.

Collaborative Learning in P3/2

This week P3/2 have been developing their communication and collaborating skills through a range of activities. We worked in groups in class to build towers using dried spaghetti and marshmallows – we used creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration to create a tower that would stand. P3/2 also participated in Building Thinking Classrooms where they had to collaborate using their critical thinking skills to solve the problem. We then collaborated with P4 during PE and P2/1 for outdoor learning.

P3/2 Maths in the Sun

P3/2 have made the most of the lovely sunshine this week as we took our numeracy learning outside. We took different measuring equipment out and explored different items in the playground to measure. We had to work out what the best measuring tool would be to measure and then use the correct unit of measurement. We then worked collaboratively in groups to solve problems during Building Thinking Classroom.

P3/2 and P2/1 police visit

This morning we had a visit from the community police officers. We learned all about the role of a police officer, how they keep us safe and then we got to try on some of their uniform and kit.

Building Thinking Classroom

In P3/2 we have been developing a thinking classroom. During maths we have been working on solving different problems using our critical thinking, collaborating and communication skills whilst using Math Talk Moves – Turn and Talk and Wait Time. Today P3/2 co-created our success criteria, which helps us understand how to be successful in a task. Miss Smith was super impressed we came up with all of these by ourselves. We then used our success criteria to successfully solve the problem.
