Primary 2 Update

Last week we enjoyed our Rights Respecting day on Monday, where we looked closely at the right to an education, make a collage to illustrate this right, and designed a Rights Respecting school mascot.

In maths, we explored and discussed different ways to get the answer to maths problems, and the children drew posters to illustrate one method they might use, such as counting on their fingers, using a number line, or using concrete materials such as beads and cubes. Several of the children in class also showed that they could use more complex methods such as counting in tens, twos, or fives, or even remembering their number bonds to ten to help them work out an answer! Well done!

Last week the class also started practising for their assembly. We got busy making props, rehearsing lines, and learning a dance. We hope to see you on Friday at 9:15 to watch us perform!

Our space topic is nearly at an end. Enjoy the attached photos of some of the space things we’ve had set up in the classroom the last few weeks, including a role-play space station with a log book and Intergalactic Passports, packets of freeze-dried food, thermal foil blankets, and books about space travel. The children have also been busy making astronauts and portholes for our wall display!
