Education must develop every child’s personality, talents and abilities to the full. It must encourage the child’s respect for human rights, as well as respect for their parents, their own and other cultures, and the environment.
A child of with a disability has the right to live a full and decent life with dignity and independence, and to play an active part in the community. Governments must do all they can to provide support to disabled children.
Thank you all so much for your kind generosity today. Together we raised £184 for SCIAF. This number will be doubled by the government and will help the children of South Sudan achieve their right to an education .
In South Sudan, a generation of children with disabilities are locked out of an education and trapped in a cycle of poverty. We would like to help these children achieve their right to an education. We can do so if every family could bring in £1 to support these children on the 1st of April.
Many children with disabilities in South Sudan are not able to go to school or, later on, to work and earn a living. They may have no access to support services or hospitals for treatment. They may face stigma and exclusion.
This year £1 = £2

In P.E. today we started our preparations for participating in the London 2020 Mini Marathon. P1,2 and 3 started by getting some of their running distance completed, P4 and 5 did some training for their run on Thursday and P6 and 7 helped with the organisation and preparations. All pupils will have the opportunity to complete 2.6 miles.
Primary 7 have had a great week completing STEM Titanic challenges. We had to design a lifejacket and ship that would not sink.
In numeracy and maths, we have been consolidating our knowledge of addition strategies. In writing we have learned about the features of a descriptive text and wrote about a persons, place or thing of interest. We will be looking at discussion text and trying to figure out who was to blame for Titanic sinking.
I am delighted to welcome my new class and report that all children are settling in really well to the new routines and responsibilities in Primary 7.
Thank you for all the hard work the children put into their House Captain, Netball and Football Captain speeches. We have started to votes and results will be announced soon.
P7 are enjoying the Titanic topic and have been learning how to draw portraits in art this week.
For maths, we are revising place value and rounding.
Next week we will be writing about a person, place or thing that is of interest to us . We will be learning about the features of a report and incorporating this into our writing.
Have a great weekend everyone!
