P3 Week beginning 19th March

We have been preparing for the Easter Fair this week and have been doing some quite messy art making Easter Cards for our stall. Our highlights of the week include:

  • Learning about the Easter Story and writing about it.
  • Doing some orienteering and maths outside.
  • Taking part in the Burgh Beautiful Linlithgow competition
  • Learning about Easter in France and how their bells fly to Rome on Good Friday before returning filled with chocolate on Easter Sunday.

Week beginning 11th March 2018

We have been busy this week as we have had to prepare for our Mass all about St Joseph. Some of us had to do bidding prayers and we have had to practice the hyms. Our highlights of the week include:

  • Learning about the charity SCIAF for whom we raised money with our Fairtrade raffle
  • We wrote imaginative stories about Amazing Chocolate Bars inspired by our reading of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
  • In our work about Fairtrade we learnt about farmers who grow cocoa beans and ‘The Journey of Chocolate’.
  • In Maths we have been subtracting with 2 digit numbers without bridging
  • We learnt about the life of St Joseph and gave our work to father Paul to look at.
  • We were given our Heritage hero Certificates for our hard work during our Linlithgow topic.

P3 Week Beginning 12th March

Week beginning 5th March 2018

It’s good to be back in school after all the snow from last week. We have been continuing our learning about Fairtrade. Thanks to Rosa for bringing in cake on her birthday to share and Ellie for some scrummy homemade bread. This week’s highlights include:

  • We wrote Fairtrade Recipe’s and then made some Fairtrade Chocolate Cornflake Clusters on Wednesday
  • We have organised a Fairtrade raffle using some items given to us by Tesco on our trip last week
  • We have been continuing our work on subtraction in Maths
  • We are celebrating World Book Day today
  • We have been creating some artwork for Mother’s Day

 

 

P3 – Week beginning the 19th February 2018

This week we have been working hard on our Local History Topic as we work towards our Archaeology Scotland ‘Heritage Hero Award’. This week’s highlights include:

  • We have been making information posters about places in Linlithgow which we will present to P6.
  • We had a visit from the SSPCA where we learnt about their work and how we can help to look after animals.
  • We have been learning about the value of Honesty
  • We have begun working on subtraction in Maths
  • In RE we have been learning about when Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist
  • We wrote some information leaflets about Linlithgow.

 

Week beginning 12th February

It’s been a short week but a hectic week with lots to talk about. It’s been Valentines day, Ash Wednesday, Pancake Day, Kai’s Birthday and Chinese New Year! This week’s highlights include:

  • We made Valentine’s day cards
  • We were given our ashes on Wednesday
  • In Maths we have learnt about symmetry, creating symmetrical shapes and patterns
  • We learnt about St Valentine during our reading comprehension work
  • We have learnt a little about Chinese New Year
  • In French we have been learning the days of the week. Il y a sept jours.

Week Beginning 5th February 2018

We have been learning historical facts about Linlithgow this week and we went on a tour of the town with Mrs Chalmers. As we write this Primary 3 would like to say thank you to Beatrix as we are enjoying her birthday cakes! This week’s highlights include:

  • We have completed our work on time and we did an assessment of our work.
  • We did some big maths beat that
  • On Tuesday it was internet safety day and we created 5 rules to help us stay safe.
  • We have been learning about the holy trinity.
  • We used books and leaflets and the internet to find out more facts about Linlithgow
  • Our walls have all be painted. We now have a white classroom!

P3 Week Beginning 29th January

Big news in Primary 3, our classroom is going to be painted so we have had to take everything off our walls! This week’s highlights include:

  • We have been learning about the importance of trust in friendships and we read the story the fox and the crow.
  • In writing we wrote imaginative stories about the palace.
  • We have been designing a historical walking tour of Linlithgow using maps of the town to help us. We are looking forward to our walking tour on Monday.
  • Mrs Logan came in on Wednesday to help us with our maths work on time. We have been learning to tell the time (half past, quarter past and quarter to).

 

Week Beginning 22nd January

This week we have been celebrating Scotland, with learning about Robert Burns and Poetry work. This week’s highlights include:

  • We made information pages about Robert Burns
  • In Maths we did some ‘Check Ups’ on our addition work
  • In French, we played a snakes and ladders game to practice the french months
  • We looked at our poems and translated them from Scots to English
  • We attended Mass presented by P4.
  • We have been practicing our Scottish Poems and we are performing them later today!
  • In Re we had to correctly arrange the prayer ‘Our Father’
  • We now have a display of the Mackintosh art we created last week.

Week Beginning 15th January

It has been a very wintery week at school with lots of snow to play with outside. This week’s highlights include:

  • We had shiny Friday where we got to work in our committees and masterclasses
  • We have been creating some artwork in the style of Charles Mackintosh
  • In Maths we have been learning to add using vertical recording and the three times table
  • Some of us have started our Reconciliation lessons with Mrs Taylor
  • Our value this week in Health and Wellbeing has been friendship
  • We created Gruffalo wanted posters using Scots words
  • We have been looking at and learning some Scots words and poetry
  • We have been learning the months of the year in French
