P5 Home Learning Tasks 12.08.20

Hello boys & girls!

We hope you have had a good summer and are looking forward to starting P5 with us – we’re looking forward to meeting you all and getting to know you better. Things may be a little different and there will be lots of hand washing, but we’ll work together to help you settle back in to school.

We have a few tasks we would like you to do before coming back on Thursday. These are listed below:

Dr Suess
In class we will be reading one of Dr Suess’ stories. Here are some things to think about, research and/or write down in order to discuss in class.
1. Can you find out 3 (or more) facts about Dr Suess?
2. Have you read, listened to or watched anything by (or inspired by) Dr Suess? What was it? Did you like it? You could try creating a book/movie review for it.
3. Have a think about a job/career you would like to do when you are older. We will discuss in class.

Hand-washing
Create a poster on the importance of hand-washing or giving instructions on how to wash hand correctly. We would like to display these in our classrooms! Make them colourful and informative. You can choose to do this on paper or on the computer.

Maths
Practice your maths skills on some of the following websites:
Addition & Subtraction – https://www.topmarks.co.uk/number-facts/number-fact-families
Times Tables & Division – https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button

Thank you and Goodbye!

Morning Primary 4!
I thought I’d make one last blog post! It was so lovely seeing some of you yesterday when you came to school to collect your reports. I’ve missed you all so much! Thank you for the lovely gifts as well. I’m so proud of those of you who have been learning at home, I know it hasn’t always been easy but the hard work will be worth it when you return to school!
Depending on what the plan is when we come back to school, my class will have Miss Gorman or Mrs McLachlan/Mrs Saunders which I’m sure you are all very excited about! Primary 5 is such an exciting year and you will all love it! I hope you all have a fantastic summer.
Stay safe and I will see you in our middle block in August!

Hello Primary 2! Happy Friday!😊 I think the sun is trying very hard to peek through the clouds.🌥

The Sumdog competition finished last night. Can I say a massive WELL DONE to all of those who take part.👍🎆

P2D ended up in 34th position out of 178 classes – AMAZING! Some well earned coins on the way to those who took part. I hope you enjoyed it.

Special mention: drum roll please🥁🥁🥁🥁to HL in P2D who was 12th and OC in P2K who was 17th (out of 1961 pupils)  WOW. What stars 🌟🌟🌟!

Thank you to all of you who have worked and played on Sumdog so well over lockdown. You all deserve a huge round of applause.❤

Feel free to continue over the summer holidays if you want.

Have a lovely summer all of you and remember to have fun and stay safe. Looking forward to seeing you in August.

Love from Mrs Duff and Mrs Kohler😊😊 (Well Mrs Kohler won’t see you in August but I’m sure she will be thinking of us all. Happy retirement Mrs Kohler.🥰)

Time to say, “Goodbye!”

Good Morning everyone,

I just wanted to sneak in one last post before I go! Just to say goodbye to all the pupils and their parents and carers I have known throughout my time at Harrysmuir. I have already taught quite a few parents of some of my recent pupils so I thought it was best to leave now, because if I stayed for much longer I may have had some pupils saying to me that I had taught their Grannies!!

To all the pupils, I would like to say thank you so much for working hard and giving me such a lot of happy memories to take home with me, and to all the parents/carers and Grandparents, it was very nice to have met you all and thank you for all your support!

I hope you all enjoy your holidays and when school returns I am sure you will all be very happy and ready to start learning lots of new things and also having some fun!

I will miss all the boys and girls and all the staff, but I will always be very proud to say I was a teacher at Harrysmuir Primary.

‘Bye everyone!

🤗P2 Sumdog Update

Good morning! Happy Thursday Primary 2😃 The sun is already shining 🌞and the birds are singing🐦 – what a lovely day.

Unfortunately, I didn’t see any dragons, unicorns or dinosaurs on the road today but I like the emojis!🐉🦄🦕🦖

Just a quick update from the Sumdog competition. P2D have moved up to 54th (out of 172 classes) – weh hey😄 and OC in P2K is in 10th position overall (out of 1874 pupils) – fantastic OC.🎆🎆Thank you all for taking part.

This is the last day of the competition. So if you want to join in, please do so…right up until 8pm.

Take care,

Mrs Duff😊🐘
